Previously undefeated UCLA and Baylor both lost and fell in the rankings. The Bruins dropped from second to fifth and the Bears plummeted from fourth to 12th after losing to both Kansas and Iowa State. The Cyclones entered the poll at No. 24. The Gamecocks (15-0), who are the last unbeaten team left.

vanderveer earns 1,202nd win to tie Coach K's all-time ncaa record
VanDerveer, 70, is in her 38th season at Stanford, which has won three NCAA titles and 26 conference regular-season titles during her tenure. VanDerveer has been at the heart of it all except in 1995-1996 (one of Stanford's 15 Final Four seasons), when she stepped away from the Cardinal for a season to coach the U.S. national team leading into the 1996 Atlanta Olympics.

The question for Brink, Clark and several other players is whether to declare for the 2024 draft or exercise the COVID-19 waiver and come back to college for a fifth season. With an NCAA title already under her belt, Brink might be ready to move on.

Dallas reached the WNBA semifinals last season, but coach Latricia Trammell knew the Wings needed more help from behind the arc for 2024. So they might look to Amoore, who had 118 3-pointers last season for the Hokies and currently has 40 through 16 games. She is also averaging 17.0 points and 7.4 assists per game. (Could return to college for 2024-25.)

The Wildcats, who climbed three spots, were last ranked this high in 2003. They have a key Big 12 conference showdown Monday night at No. 13 Baylor. Kansas State is missing star center Ayoka Lee, who is out for a few weeks with an ankle injury.

Duke commit Cooper Flagg tops McDonald's All American Game rosters​


Duke signee Cooper Flagg and Rutgers' first two participants in 16 years headline the rosters for the 47th annual McDonald's All American Game. The rosters, which feature 19 of the top 21 prospects in the 2024 ESPN 100, were unveiled Tuesday on ESPN's "NBA Today." Duke, which has the No. 1 recruiting class in 2024, also has two signees named to the game. Flagg, the No. 1 prospect in the country, will be joined by No. 7 Isaiah Wvans on the East team. North Carolina has No. 13 Drake Powell and No. 16 Ian Jackson. The East team will be led by Pace Academy (Georgia) coach Sharman White, while Tommy Brakel of North Crowley High School (Texas) will coach the West team. The McDonald's All American Games for both boys and girls will take place in Houston on April 2 at the Toyota Center.

WOMEN'S BRACKETOLOGY: 2024 NCAA TOURNAMENT​

This was the most difficult bracket to compile so far this season. From the No. 1 seeds straight through the bubble teams, there were no easy decisions -- except South Carolina at No. 1 overall. The other three 1-seeds are from the Pac-12. UCLA and Stanford lead the country in top-25 NET wins with five apiece. Colorado has four, and while NC State beat the Buffs, the Wolfpack's two losses -- to Virginia Tech and Miami -- are the worst cumulative NET-ranking defeats (59) of any of the contenders.

MEN'S BRACKETOLOGY: 2024 NCAA TOURNAMENT​

It is among the most remarkable feats in college basketball history: In Bill Self's past 17 seasons at Kansas, the Jayhawks have earned a No. 1 seed in the NCAA tournament 11 times. (We're giving KU the No. 1 overall spot in the cancelled 2020 tourney, which was a lock.) Think about the sustained excellence required to be one of the top four teams in the country two-thirds of the time for almost two decades.

north carolina online sports betting to begin before acc tournament
Members of the state lottery commission, which was tasked by the General Assembly last year to license sports gambling operators, voted unanimously to set noon March 11 as the time in which sports betting can commence on mobile devices and computers.

The ACC Tournament begins in Washington on March 12, with the NCAA men's and women's basketball tournaments to start the following week. North Carolina would become the 30th state, along with the District of Columbia, to offer mobile sports betting, according to the American Gaming Association.

Somewhere, Kawhi Leonard and Jimmer Fredette are smiling. They were a pair of charismatic stars during the 2010-11 season, propelling San Diego State and BYU to top 10 rankings and creating perhaps the basketball zenith of the Mountain West Conference. The 2011 NCAA tournament also marked the last time the Mountain West gave us multiple Sweet 16 entries

WOMEN'S BRACKETOLOGY: 2024 NCAA TOURNAMENT​

Notre Dame over UConn. Oregon State upsetting Colorado and Utah. Mississippi State shocking LSU. Washington State stunning UCLA. It's been a wild few days. It's been a wild season. Apparently, reliability only comes in three forms -- death, taxes and South Carolina. But keep one word in mind with these upsets: resume. When it comes to making the field and (most significantly) seeding, don't overreact to one isolated result. Yes, the aforementioned games were important and moved the Bracketology needle, but this deep into the season they are a piece to a team's puzzle, not its entirety. For example, the Irish looked great in Storrs, but it doesn't erase their 14-point loss at home to Syracuse two days earlier or sitting in sixth place in the ACC. As great as the Bulldogs' win over LSU was, it marked their first top-50 NET win of the season. It's fun to be in the moment, but in Bracketology it's important to not be a prisoner to it.

2024 NCAA Tournament Bracketology - Men's
The intricacies of Bracketology are on full display this week. An under-the-radar, yet pivotal weekend game featuring Dayton and Richmond ended up costing a recent two-time NCAA champion (Villanova) a place in our latest bracket. The Spiders, picked 11th preseason in the Atlantic 10, knocked off No. 21 Dayton in a battle of league unbeatens, giving the A-10 a second team in the field and becoming our first official "bid thief" of the year.
