Things can go faster than light! We just have not made them do it yet, we also have theoretical particals that are theorized to go faster than light. We also dont know how fast gravity actually travels either!

So if Gravity is unknown for its speed... how do we all of a sudden KNOW for a fact as you stated that light speed cannot be broken? They thought just like you did back in the old days before the sound barrier was broken...

Astral lost as soon as he muttered this in his first post. Gravity propagates at the speed of light. Fringe theorists talk a lot of shit but the overwhelming evidence supporting this and the observation of Jupiter bending the light from a far off galaxy as it was directly between Earth and said galaxy pretty much puts this to rest for good. Gravity = speed of light. Celeritas is the cosmic speed limit. Accept it.

Gravity can be thought of as a disruption in spacetime, then 'bending' which was discussed, created by a celestial body (Or any body). The bending propagates using spacetime as a medium.

Carl Sagan's Cosmos series on the Science Channel

Sometimes I think this series should be required viewing for everyone on this planet.

Episodes 8 & 13 are the real standouts. #8 is the one that gives the most succinct explanation of the limits of near-light-speed travel, and the consequences of surpassing it. I find it helps to think of it less as the speed of light, than as the speed of reality, because in a sense, that's exactly what it is.

Just watched the first episode today. Very cool. People say Sagan was arrogant, but who the fuck cares?
