Avengers: Age Of Ultron

Who is the woman in the cave though.

Quicksilver is already better than his Godzilla character just from that accent.

Did not enjoy this as much as the original avengers, it just felt a bit soulless, a bit by the numbers, there were a few moments of Joss Wheldon wit, but the only thing I could compare it to was like watching serenity after seeing firefly, the characters where all there, but they didn't seem to be acting like we remembered them for the most part.

I took my wife to see this today, and I was due to take my kid to see it at the weekend while she is at work, but I am not sure he will sit through it without being bored in places, because I sure was.

I saw GOTG four times at the cinema, but I am not sure I would see this one even twice.

I felt the first hour was missing something. It's not that there was too much setup, because there were action sequences, but they didn't have much emotion behind them. Joss has said he wanted to make this much more of an analysis of the characters and you can definitely see him trying that, but I think there are just too many of them to give each their own space and there was too much that had to be cut out to make way for fight scenes. Maybe for this reason the second hour was a lot better and in places almost as good as the first movie. It was wall to wall action and some of it was really well choreographed.

Quicksilver's really blah. He does get some moments, but none really matches that X-Men scene.

The new Quinjet is really nice.

There was one moment that got a very big reaction from the audience (which you don't really get in Britain unless you're watching a comedy).

The after credit sequence comes very quickly, which is good because it wouldn't be worth a wait.

I liked it. I did get the feeling that some parts had been cut down (Joss said his original cut was over three hours) like the Thor sideplot going into the cave with Selvig (SHOULD HAVE BEEN JANE) which was a bit confusing. It was kind of weird that Ultron didn't have a big final conversation with Tony when he was the one who created him (not that the scene with Vision in the forest wasn't good.) Tony kind of fell by the wayside at the end. And the part where Bruce just walked in and let Natasha out of the cage seemed a bit weird, like something was cut.

BUT YEAH I LIKED IT. Hawkeye actually had a story! He had obvious death set up then didn't die! That was very Whedon-y (as was have a character say a line early in the movie then say it again later in a different context right as they died.)

Quicksilver didn't have as cool a scene as DOFP no, but the problem with DOFP QS is that he was so ridiculously overpowered (he could bascially freeze time) that they had to just say "okay, your part of the movie is over now, bye!" and leave him behind after his one scene.

Elizabeth Olsen was very good as Wanda and I hope we see more of her (well I already know she's in Civil War but that might just be a cameo who knows.) It was good to have a female hero with actual super powers.

James Spader delivered every line perfectly.

Andy Serkies was good as the slimey guy and I hope he's actually in Black Panther with a sound gun arm now (otherwise it's a waste!)

I liked how there were so many scenes of them saving people. Like super heroes are supposed to do, EH SUPERMAN.

ScarJo's pregnancy boobs were...prominent.

So are there three SHIELDs now? Coulson's, Adama's and Fury's? Maybe AOS will explain!

There was one moment that got a very big reaction from the audience (which you don't really get in Britain unless you're watching a comedy).

Was it when Vision picked up the hammer?

Yes. That was nicely done.

I agree they had to be careful of making Quicksilver overpowered, but we did get some very short shots showing his point of view and I would've liked something that lasted a bit longer. As much for a bit of variety as anything.

Makes you wonder how someone who can run faster than a bullet can get shot in the first place.

The 2nd time around (yeah, I saw it again) I could have sworn his wounds were already starting to close.

Maybe he was anticipating or receiving general criticism that got a bit much. I'm not sure where people would be coming from to complain about Black Widow's portrayal. She got about as much screen time as Thor or Captain America, plenty of action scenes despite ScarJo's pregnancy and had a romantic storyline that was interesting and grownup, not just shoehorned in because durr she's a woman and has to be defined by a relationship with a man.

The Usual Libprog Screech Brigade: "That guy didn't give the chick a big enough part! That makes him a sexist!" <spews piss/shit/bile for weeks>

Bet on this: they don't even get the fucking irony.

I get the sexist part, but where does the racism come into it?

As best I can tell it's because QS and SW weren't played by real Eastern Europeans. Or maybe it's still about Firefly not having anyone Chinese in it, who the fuck knows.

Yeah, I think the racist stuff is about Firefly. They were just throwing everything they've ever been mad at him about at him. I don't know where the transphobia thing comes from, though.
