Bad Adverts

CaptainWacky

I want to smell dark matter
Or "Badverts" if you like!

I hate this advert because the girl is hot but also annoying af. And what's with the creepy pervy dentist? I wouldn't take an apple from him!

Of coures McDonalds continue to have the worst adverts. I hate everything about this. I hate how the dad talks over the son at the start (why is that in there?) I hate how it suggests that attractive(?) "alternative" girls work at McDonalds. I hate that the wraps are named "the Something One". I HATE IT.

All the oral B adverts are terrible, especially the girl who laughs while she talks.

Most hated adverts for me at the moment are tried between the breakfast cereal where they keep repeating the action over and over, and that annoying family for the supermarket, the one with Stella in.

Also the go compare guy seems like he is trying too hard now.

I like the old guy suggesting that the light "doesn't wake him up" as if it's letting him pee in his sleep. Then it all gets a bit disturbing when it starts showing children.

I have made a couple of bad adverts in the past few months (and one good one). I won't show them to you, but might snark at some other peoples bad ones to continue the pretense that I care about polluting the airwaves.

The first ad is a pure "ZOELLA IS BIG LETS DO SOMETHING LIKE THAT" advert but put it on TV and let's make it really false. You will see more of this as old white creative blokes desperately try to remain relevant.

The McDonalds ad is a departure from (I belief) some good advertising that Leo Burnett have done. They did a lovely coffee spot about emotions / meeting up that was great. They also did a great "first day at office" spot which was good. I suspect this brief came from the product team, not the brand team and they tend to be a bit more obvious and shouty.

This is a good ad: (off topic!)

Why? Because they have thought about an ad break being a cacophony of shit like the Oral B advert. The sound design on this forces you to look up and wonder what the fuck is going on. about 15 seconds in they drench you in water and hit you with a desirable food shot. It is broadcast at evening meal times while you sadly look at your dreadful food. I love it.

I will, however, find you some other bad averts soon to snark at. I might sneak in one of mine...

This, however, is a shit ad I really hate. I hate almost all car adverts as they are completely style over substance and explain no benefit to buying them.

Go Fun Yourself - see what you did there? It's almost rude, but the temptation is actually to tell you to go fuck yourself with your stupid ad. I FELL INTO YOUR TRAP.

How does driving round a balloon warehouse demonstrate a benefit to me? I don't come across many balloon obstacles in my life as a rule.

I hate almost all car adverts. They spend so much money but somewhere along the line they give the creative brief to a passing tramp.

Why are so many car adverts shown before films at cinemas?

I know films cost a lot to see, but it dosnt meant your average movie goer has enough spare cash to buy a car because he saw a fancy advert for one.

Car ads almost always show some smug git driving round a deserted Mediterranean town. In reality he's probably fallen asleep at the wheel during the school run and has mown down half a dozen kids.

Anyway, I hate the Just Eat "chicken madras" ad and we have a rule in the house that whoever's closest to the remote when it comes on MUST turn the sound off or switch channels before that woman starts singing.

Oh God I think I posted the Chicken Madras ad in an earlier version of this thread when headvoid was away...do I dare post it again? YES, HERE IT IS.

(I hate that noise she makes when she spins round and nearly falls over.) HOLY SHIT it actually has positive comments on youtube. I guess I'm just UNCOOL.

That fish advert is good! The fish looks tasty.

And I have a related thought to two above posts! Before the new Star Trek they showed a car advert where a car was driving around a deparment store (with the Are You Being Served theme song playing which would surely be lost on YOUNGER VIEWERS!?) And I thought to myself "wait, why is it good that your car can drive around a shop? You'd never drive your car around a shop!"

The Just Eat campaign was horrifically successful. When you have a low level awareness brand that is based online, it seems to be LETS DO SOMETHING REALLY ODD is the theme. (See any comparison site ad)

...were they singing "sea panda" in the Seaworld type advert? Jude Law, lol. Cute Japanese girls, hello there. I liked that there was a Godzilla ad in there.

"Fun" fact about the Just Eat ad: there's a version where the guy sings instead but they never show that on tv!?

I hate the voice in these Oreo adverts.

They're probably not "bad" adverts as I'm sure it's been a successfuly campaign and the (annoying) song sticks in heads but I still hate that voice.

The pigs never got killed in the fairy tale -- they just lost their houses.

Or is that the sanitized cartoon version of the original story?

Grandma was forced to watch this ad repeatedly for 8 hours (and then eaten) in the little red riding story.
