Because this came from Breaking Bad, I was waiting for him to drop dead once he realized. But I like that this show can be brave enough to have a positive thing happen, and that's it, no other shoe of misery waiting to drop.
Who knows, maybe Chuck was still alive during Breaking Bad and we just never saw him (or he and Jimmy had a big falling out over Jimmy's decison to turn criminal.)
I was a little surprised at his brother being such a dick too. I mean, after all the "Jimmy does the right thing" stuff, taking care of his brother even though he figured out his illness was not real but fabricated etc, his brother is quite the ingrate.
Mike gets better and better though. I liked him in Breaking Bad too, but goddamn if he doesn't remind me of a Santoran from Doctor Who!
This was a great episode. I might say epic, even. So stylized and yet so gritty. Sets up so much, and yet it's clear we still have plenty of other stories coming before he becomes Saul.
Yeah, fucking Odenkirk will get the Emmy for that Bingo monologue alone. DAMN HIM, JON HAMM WILL NEVER WIN.
Goddamn, s02e01 of Better Call Saul was probably the best episode of anything I've seen in quite some time. Keep an eye out for a lot of visual and musical symbolism. And Ken.
The opening scene of S02E01 was the best thing I've seen on TV in over a year. And I saw The Flash battle a giant Shark-man, so that's fucking saying something.
Show is consistently awesome but it's kind of sad that they built him up again into a good position since we know it's about to go south for him once more. Jimmy's motivations make such perfect sense now though.
