I thought it was pretty good. I liked that they didn’t show what the creatures (or whatever) looked like. A friend of mine worked on the visual effects for it and told me they spent a long time developing ideas for what the things could look like, before finally deciding it was better to leave it a mystery. Not only does it leave it up to your imagination, but it puts you in the same boat (no pun intended) as Sandra Bullock and the other survivors.
The only thing that possibly harmed it for me was that it reminded me so much of A Quiet Place. I’m aware that Bird Box was created first, so I’m not saying it’s a rip off, but it still has a similar concept.
