Luke Kuechly named 2022 Pro Bowl Legends Captain

Former Panthers linebacker Luke Kuechly has been named a Legends Captain for the 2022 Pro Bowl in Las Vegas.
As one of four Legends Captains (Rod Woodson, Reggie Wayne, Jason Witten), Kuechly will be assigned to the NFC defense, where he'll serve as a mentor and be on the sidelines during the game. The Legends Captains will also attend various events throughout Pro Bowl week, including the Skills Showdown. Kuechly, who retired in 2020, holds the franchise record with seven Pro Bowl selections and five first-team All-Pro seasons. He was named to the NFL's All-Decade Team of the 2010s and had the most tackles (1,092) of any NFL player between 2012-19.

Sam Mills to be inducted into North Carolina Sports Hall Of Fame

Former Panthers linebacker Sam Mills is being recognized for his impact on and off the field, again. Mills was named to the 2022 class of the North Carolina Sports Hall of Fame Wednesday morning. He's the second Panthers legend in as many years, as native son Julius Peppers was a part of last year's class. Mills is being recognized alongside Luke Appling, Missouri Arledge, Ronnie Barnes, Henry Bibby, Dan Brooks, Torry Holt, Timmy Newsome, Dave Robbins, and Tom Suiter.
They will be enshrined during the 58th annual induction banquet on April 22, at the Raleigh Convention Center.

Panthers coach Matt Rhule prioritizing NFL experience in search for new offensive coordinator

In 2019, the New York Jets were interested in hiring then-Baylor coach Matt Rhule under the condition he choose his coaching staff from a list of candidates they provided. They weren’t good with his proposed list of coordinators and assistants who had very little NFL experience. His future beyond 2022 may depend on it. Fox’s Jay Glazer reported after the season that Carolina owner David Tepper still could make a coaching change if Rhule doesn’t hire a “rock star’’ offensive coordinator.

Ask The Old Guy: What's Next

We're a week away from Senior Bowl practices, which are the de facto start of the offseason scouting season (the scouting has been happening for months, but the attention to it is ramping up now). Otherwise, the big questions for the Panthers will center around incoming players, as we turn our focus toward free agency and the 2022 NFL Draft.
And after a bit of a break, we're ready to dig back into the mail, because there's plenty of it. In hindsight, that 3-0 start might have been the worst outcome for a lot of people, inside and outside the building. It created some expectations that they were closer than they were. Built against some less-than-stellar competition, and with everything breaking their way for the first three weeks, it seemed too good to be true. And it was. The Panthers weren't ready for that level of expectation.

Eli Manning heaps praise on new Carolina Panthers OC Ben McAdoo, who once benched him
Five games remained in the 2017 season when then-New York Giants coach Ben McAdoo benched two-time Super Bowl MVP Eli Manning in favor of Geno Smith as losses mounted for a team with championship aspirations, to end a streak of 210 consecutive starts, at the time the second-longest in NFL history for a quarterback (behind Brett Favre).
