You think I look (or post) like that guy?

I think I look more (or at least post more) like this guy:

Or maybe that's ego talking. Then again, if it's ego talking, all the more similarity.

Keanu Reeves?

Keanu? He couldn't get the accent right if he tried. Also, Mentalist doesn't have that dumb surfer attitude. Keanu's all wrong for him.

I stand by my usage of Ewan McGregor. Think Trainspotting meets SW Episode 3.

Ditto. Plus he couldn't act his way out of a dead-end street (unless he's playing a dumb surfer, then he's Laurence Olivier)

One of my admittedly personal gripes in big-screen portrayals of either real people or well-known characters is getting the height correct, or at least close. I remember getting my nose all out of joint when I found out that a 6'3" actor would be portraying Wolverine, who in the comics is supposed to be something like 5'4" (of course when I finally saw "X-Men" I got over it fast). My point is, isn't Mentalist rather tall? Could MacGregor pull it off?

I would've picked a better photo --this one may as well the cover for some faggy folk album called "The Many Moods of Steve B".

You have a point. Under review.

2) It occurred to me that Kristin Chenoweth might make a better missmanners than Holly Hunter, but I'll wait for consensus on that.

OK, I have to admit I don't watch many films or TV shows and never have (darn hard to shake that Amish upbringing aint so?) so I only know about 1% of the actors being discussed. However if we are going with blonds, the character Jodi Foster played in Inside Man has a "missmanners" feel....sort of sweetly devious and manipulative. ..... maybe.

Chenoweth can do that to, in spades --but Jodi Foster's certainly a draw. Can anyone who's seen/met mm get behind this?

I understand that gripe. Height is a good issue to work out. However, thanks to camera angles (and Star Trek fans know this better than anyone) Patrick Steward and Jonathan Frakes appeared to have the same height most of the time. Menty's 6'4" and Ewan's 5'10". Even though Ewan's lacking six inches, 5'10" is still tall enough to tower over a lot of people. I should know. I'm 5'11". Anyway, it's all in camera angles and distance to one another. If you know what you're doing, you could make Verne Troyer look taller than Andre the Giant.

As far as getting Menty's personality right, I'd say Ewan's my best guess so far. If I think of any other UK actor who might be able to play the part better, I'll let you guys know. Yet, Ewan's got that right mix of intelligence, suaveness, and villainy to get Menty right.

Although, Menty's input as a British man would be a good thing. So, what do you think Menty?

Chenoweth's a toughie. She's more commonly known for her role on Bewitched than she is in her broadway role in Wicked. In Wicked, she's perfect. In Bewitched she plays too bubbly and too stupid a character. But, I agree, Chenoweth's a good choice. As far as looks go, she's not really right at all. MM's a brunette and the face doesn't really match all that much. She's definitely got the right height (or lack thereof).

For mm, I imagine a moderately thinner Kathy Bates. mm seems more rugged than Chenoweth or Foster. Neither one of them seem like they would survive a harsh midwestern winter. Bates, like mm, seems like not only would she survive, but sell snow cones besides. ;)

I choose Charlize Theron to play me...Think the way she looked in Devil's Advocate and the character she played in Monster...Without the lesbian part of it.

Word.
