DAMN YOU PETER PAN!!

Peanut Butter that is.

My niece had a mild tummy ache today. I had packed her a peanut butter and butter sandwich in her lunch, come to find out I have a jar of the recalled Peter Pan Peanut Butter, batch number 2111. I've had this jar for over a month and she's probably had ten sandwiches from it and not really complained about a tummy ache before but her mom is taking her to the doctor tonight just to be sure it's not salmonella (sp?) poisoning.

The story so far:
5 Cases of Salmonella in N.J., Possible Peanut Butter Link

TRENTON, N.J. (AP) -- State health officials say five cases of salmonella in New Jersey may be linked to tainted peanut butter distributed across the nation.

Doctor Eddy Bresnitz, the state's deputy health commissioner and its epidemiologist, says the state has no food history for four of the five cases. But he says tests show the same type of salmonella.

One of the cases, a child who lived in Pennsylvania and moved to New Jersey, ate peanut butter. And the other ones probably did too since they have the same salmonella form.

ConAgra Foods says customers should discontinue using certain jars of Peter Pan and Great Value peanut butter because the spread was linked to salmonella contamination that has made some 300 people sick nationwide since August.

The lids of the jars have a product code beginning "2111'' and can be returned to the company for a refund.

The salmonella outbreak was linked to tainted peanut butter produced by ConAgra at a plant in Sylvester, Ga. How salmonella got into peanut butter is still under investigation, said Dr. Mike Lynch, an epidemiologist at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

ConAgra officials haven't said how much peanut butter is covered in the recall, which it called a precaution.

peanut butter and butter?

No wonder she had a tummy ache, normal people feed their children Peanut butter and JELLY :D

My niece hates jelly, she doesn't like the texture.

I don't know where peanut butter and butter (margarine) came from, maybe her mom eats that. I know my grandma ate peanut butter with butter and I wouldn't rule out my dad as in influence but the kid loves it. Tuna fish or peanut butter and butter, those are the only sandwiches she likes to take in her lunch.

Anyhoo, my niece went to the doctor, her blood tests and oxygen levels are normal so my baby is fine, >WHEW<...Now where do I go to get my refund? Peanut butter ain't cheap.

Oh and it was creamy, if I want to eat peanuts on my sandwich I'll buy peanuts and put them on my sandwich.

You tell them fuckin' Peanuts!!!

We actually have 3 jars of the recalled peanut butter.. 2 jars of Peter Pan and one Great Value, which is Walmart's brand. We've eaten almost all of one of them without getting sick, I don't think we'll finish the jar though LOL.

I'm not finishing off the jar of Peter Pan I have either. The news said to throw it out but keep the lid for a refund. However the lot number is on the jar, not the lid so I'm wondering, if I walk into Ralphs with a practically empty jar of recalled peanut butter and no deaths or illnesses to report am I still going to get my refund?
