THOUGHTS ON THE WHOLE SEASON, DON'T READ IF YOU DON'T WANT MILD SPOILERS
It was a very strong season. There were some slight drops in the middle where it seemed to be slowed down a bit much (we went a few episodes without a big fight scene) but on the whole the pacing was a lot better than most of these Marvel Netflix shows. AND SPEAKING OF ACTION it had some pretty amazing fights, notably the prison fight but also the fight in the Bulletin and the church (DEADLY ROSARY BEADS.) The final fight between Matt, Fisk and Dex was maybe a bit underwhelming compared to some of the others but still good.
I'm not a RELIGIOUS PERSON but I think Matt's crisis was faith was done quite well, even if you just wanted him to get over it at times. It helped that the priest and Sister Maggie were fun characters played by good actors (also because I'm me I have to mention that Maggie was hot in the flashback scene.)
Bullseye was pretty cool, even though they never called him that. And he didn't dress like him. And his backstory was totally different. But he was cool! I liked when he'd just throw random objects and kill people with them and it might not have made sense but it looked cool. Maybe he was an INHUMAN.
Previous praise for Fisk still stands.
I found Ray annoying at the start but it eventually became clear that the purpose of his story was to show how completely Fisk was controlling things. And I did feel bad for him in the end.
I liked the scene with the old woman standing up to Fisk and comparing him to a Nazi so was a bit disappointed that Dex killed her.
Karen being THE GREATEST JOURNALIST IN THE WORLD still doesn't make much sense, and her going back to work with Matt and Foggy after all that kind of makes it worse, but I really like the chemistry between Matt, Foggy and Karen. I got a bit emotional even when they reunited at the end. It feels like they've been apart for a while (halfway through season two I guess?) so it felt good to see them together.
Shame Claire wasn't in it and I suspect Rosario Dawson is done with these shows. No Turk either!
Anyway I thought it was up there with Daredevil, JJ and Punisher's first seasons as the strongest seasons of these shows okay. Yes I still wish they'd do some stand alone episodes rather than always dragging one story out for 13 episodes but this felt like a story that needed all that time more than some of them.
