DEXTER

Yeah, she hasn't had a good track record. Ringer was OK, but it wasn't around long enough to get going. I watched a bit of The Wolfpack last year, and it was awful. I will still support her!

Maybe she's Dexter's hot teacher who is also a murderer and he's conflicted because he should murder her but she's hot.

I just laughed out loud at the young versions of Angel and LaGuerta.

Is Doakes going to be in it? Doakes was awesome.

I'm not going to ask "why does this exist?" when I know the answer is "because streaming services need content." But lol it looks so cheap. I hope there's a whole arc about Young Doakes learning the phrase "surprise, motherfucker!"

I watched it out of morbid curiousity. HUGE SPOILERS (lol) below.

So yeah, that was definitely a proper finale and a lot better and more appropriate than the lumberjack one. Dexter is unambiguously dead.

Turns out he was just wounded! I remember actually really liking the end of New Blood because it was so final. Little did I know...

So yeah Dexter's in a coma and his life is flashing before his eyes, including stuff that he wasn't present for and couldn't possibly have known (Harry having another son who died because Harry is a drunk was never mentioned before, right?) Half the episode is a remake of the flashbacks to Dexter's first kill from the original show, where the killer nurse was played by Denise Crosby (it's someone else here!) And, as far as these things go...this part is pretty good. I mean it doesn't need to exist AT ALL but the the new Dexter actor does a good job. I thought Deb's actress was good too, even though she looks way too old for high school. Christian Slater's Harry seems a lot more erratic than the original but I guess we mostly saw him as a ghost in Dexter's head. The episode is still dumb as fuck, don't get me wrong! 'Ice, Ice, Baby' plays for no fucking reason at one point. Some of it's so cartoonish that it almost feels like it's going for parody. And Dexter was always at least a bit dumb and cartoonish. Again there's little artistic merit to this but for what it is...it's dumb fun? For now?

Okay, so for the third(!) spin-off they're just going straight comedy. And that's probably the right thing to do at this point.

That's a really stacked cast for something so dumb!

Can they just bring Doakes back to life please.

I am ROLLING. :ROFLMAO:

WTF did I just watch. I mean, yeah, I think you're right. At this point they can't play it straight Everyone knows how preposterous this even existing is, so I guess leaning into it makes sense but just LOL.

I would literally not be mad if they ass pulled Doakes back into it as a part of his psyche like Harry (who is also back lmao) at this point.

I'm going to fucking watch It aren't I. :cautious:

(A UFO lands in Dexter's back yeard.)

Dexter: What the fuck is this!?

Voice from the UFO: SURPRISE, MOTHERFUCKER!

Okay, I finished Original Sin a few weeks ago but forgot to post. Taking like 8 months to finish a season probably isn't the ideal way to watch. As before, I'll just say that the show is PERFECTLY FINE. It is dumb, but gets away with it because, well, it's DEXTER. The young actor does a good job and Michael C. Hall's voiceover helps a lot. It looks like they're setting up Brian (Dex's brother) causing Harry's death somehow, which is a major retcon and feels like the kind of thing Brian would have mentioned to Dexter. Worst part is that Sarah Michelle Gellar is commpletely wasted. She shows up in every episdoe for like one scene...but there's no larger point to her character. She's not a secret murderer and she isn't killed herself. It's bizarre casting such a big name (for tv!) as a nothing character.

So, how about Resurrection? I've watched the first two and a bit episodes. First one has to deal with retconning fucking everything from the previous show and explaining how Dexter isn't in fucking prison for murdering that innocent cop. It is not believable at all! His cop girlfriend just took the blame for shooting Dexter and ran off. Whatever, it's all just to get to the point where Dex and Angel face off, which is good. And we of course get some ghost appearances (YES, INCLDUING...HIM) where they don't really say anything much but it's fun. Second episode was better with Dex in New York and Harrison having just murdered a rapist. Dexter finds another serial killer really quickly because the universe of this show is just full of serial killers! And I know things are going to keep getting crazier. I'll keep watching; don't judge me.
