Moderator dissention has always been trolling on WF. I illustrated that. No one hesitated to call me a troll for criticising the status quo.

But alas here we are. The same issues I was talking about for years are being talked about now...oh well. And now Anna's a troll, because of me. It's all my fault.

I've maybe seemed to be more vocal because the points I've raised seemed to have fallen of deaf ears.

Maybe they're just not interested, or maybe my worries aren't worth worrying about and I'm being stupid.

Either way, I'm tired of it all now. It's not much fun, no-on admits that there's something wrong or seems open to any form of rational and timely discourse directly with those raising issues (to either get to the root of the matter or smooth over things if the person raising the problem has the wrong impression) and there's that much aggression flying around it's left me cold.

Fuck it, it's not worth the energy. It'll just fester.

Naw, you're not stupid for stating your opinions. Even ones that aren't popular.

Come to think of it, I have to wonder how many people are really all that different from when WF first opened. I looked at some of the remaining threads from 2004 (Mostly in the Archives, HD and the Gray Room), and I haven't seem much that constitutes bait-and-switch personalities from anyone. Things that once got certain people cheered will get a black mark against them now, like Cass's snarkiness towards unpopular posters, people who spend a large amount of time in HD, and so forth.

Maybe it's a case of now that there's no other uniting force to piss upon (As most don't bother with TBBS anymore and the ones that do don't have much of a problem with it to constantly bitch about it), perhaps now the old timer posters have decided to attack each other now? *is unsure* The thing that united everyone was the hatred of TBBS and the way it's run. I don't see very many new posters that have come aboard since 2006 engaging in attacks and calling eliteforge or trolling or claiming we're becoming TBBS--most of them found this place by accident, or referred by another board member, and thus don't have the baggage others do.

It was just a thought that occurred to me.

Either way, I'm tired of it all now. Maybe... but personally, I think all the problems of late boil down to one thing -- jostling for position in the popularity game. The issues are secondary, in reality, and that is why they're not dealt with.

Personal events have shaken up the social standing of some previously respected members, so what you're seeing is the shakedown of the social pecking order and people either trying to climb the ladder to fill the vacuum or protect their own status.

In the meantime, no-one makes a fuss that people like Dicky or Eccy have stopped posting, or the topics have deteriorated, or there's an unpleasant tone to the board because they're too busy scoring points, protecting their own status or trying to regain their previous position.

Good riddance to Eccentric--or rather, the little shit-stirring persona of his old account. Now there was a pot stirrer if I ever met one, and half his "crusades" against people weren't because he gave a fuck about the issues as much as for his own personal entertainment, or he cheered on one person because they beat down someone else he didn't like, whether called for or not. A perfect example of him hijacking every thread Actormike posted in last spring to troll him and ruin a lot of good threads with his dick waving for some off-hand comment he made about Ted. Or bitching out a new poster because she dare suggest the media was quick to judge Micheal Jackson. And otherwise made the place pretty unpleasant to be by picking fights with easy targets to build up his social standing and kissing ass for the green pip he pretends not to care about, but will bitch you out for if you neg him. At least he got the beat down he so royally deserved before he left.

Diacanu was planning on leaving earlier. Techman's death actually made him stick around longer than he had planned.

He left for one reason and it wasn't drama...it was to focus on his writing and his life. He was spending much more time on the board than his writing...and I'm glad he is changing that. He really is a pretty talented guy.

Pretty much. A couple people I thought I could trust I no longer trust. Oh, I still enjoy their posts, and have a good time with them, but now I take the things they say with a couple generous handfuls of salt.

I tried my damnedest to stick around here, but it just wasn't the same. I made posts here that'd be good for a solid week of entertainment over at WF that would be lucky to get, maybe, three replies here. Or I'd try to talk about something and get no replies for weeks on end. Meanwhile the "new posts" function is almost completely useless because of all the spam here.

:shrug: It's all good. I have nothing but good things to say about this place, but it just doesn't do what I need a board to do and even if I wanted to I couldn't remake it into what I wanted.

And I'm not willing to commit the time and energy to standing up my own board when WF still essentially does what I want from a board. Hell, I posted there when Cassandra owned the place and I had absolutely no use for her. I can certainly tolerate the personalities running the show at WF--just as long as I do it with my eyes open. :shrug:
