Gromsy isn't mortal like you or I; he will outlive us all (incuding Wallace).

It was going to be in a scene in "A Grand Day Out" but they run out of budget.

The guy who does Wallace's voice is really old, yeah. They should have him read out a dictionary and record it then edit it all into future scripts when he dies.
 
The oldest surviving original Last of the Summer Wine cast member. Probably.
 
And it takes about six years to make a Wallace and Gromit movie. That must piss him off.
 
Yeah I wouldn't have known there had been a change if I didn't know Peter Sallis (GOD BLESS HIS SOUL) had died.
