Maybe if lazy America didn't treat those jobs with such disdain, and if those jobs paid more than below-poverty-level wages, we wouldn't have to consider such preposterous notions.
 
Eggs is right. My hotel imports a shitload of Jamaicans and Brazilians at 7 an hour, and we cant pay locals 12 plus to do the work ever.

The reason the jobs pay below-poverty-level wages is because companies pay the illegal workers less. What happened to the job standards Americans worked so hard to elevate? I don't see how the problem originates from 'lazy America,' but rather, the availability of cheap, third-world labor.[/STRIKE]

It's the same idea. Companies with these menial jobs bring in non-Americans because they know these people will work for shit wages. If the practiced were stopped, then the employers would have to raise their wages in order to fill the jobs.
 
I just know too many people (Americans) who prefer to find new ways to live off others rather than go out, get a job, and suck it up as the price of supporting themselves. They're "too good" for the jobs they can get, and are shut out of the jobs they pipe-dream about.

And I also meant that America as an economy holds those jobs with disdain, and refuses to pay them enough money or respect, and instead, just decides to bring in cheap "foreigners" who aren't covered by the law, as you said.

America has to work at all levels of income, or it works for no one.

The difference being: our niggers have had their shots. God knows what those people from Jamaica and Brazil are bringing in...just like the Mexicans.
 
I don't often agree with the White House Press Corps, make that never, but one reporter today had a good question for Bush: Why didn't he replace Rumsfeld before the election, and so maybe help Republicans in some close districts?

I guess the answer is that if it was Bill Clinton, political calculation would have taken precedence. But Bush doesn't think that way, he'll never think that way, and for that I am pleased.

Because Bush has surrounded himself with prople who don't question and can't think for themselves. Rummy was to Iraq what Mike Brown was to Katrina.

Rummy saw the writting on the wall, as does Bush. It's a change to try win the good will of the Democrats.

This wasn't a left/liberal victory by any stretch of the imagination, and y'all know it. Half of the Dems who won were centrist or at least as conservative on some issues as the Repubs they upset. Several states OKd proposals for tougher immigration laws, and 8 more states enacted gay marriage bans, some going as far as making domestic unions illegal as well.

If that's not good enough for ya, then you're just party sheep who can't think for yourselves. Stop copying/pasting the RNC rhetoric and think bigger picture for a change.
 
Rush agrees with Eggs Mayonnaise, he's beside himself. He said that a number of the Democrats won by being more conservative than their "moderate" Republican opponents.

Does this mean you copy and paste the RNC rhetoric as well? You just agreed with Limbaugh.
 
Observing a fact isn't agreeing with Limbaugh, who couldn't speak objectively with a licensed gun to his head. It was a strategy that worked, and for the next two years we're going to see a lot of "coalition-building" where politics makes some strrrrrrrange bedfellows on certain issues.

I'm actually glad that Harold Ford lost, he was a total closet case. He would have been more trouble on social issues than he was worth. Better the devil you know...

Also, the fact that everyone right AND left will be kissing Lieberman's ass for votes makes me vomit. I can't stand that guy. And I'm from CT.
