Indeed, I was not already here. At least, not as a poster. I've been lurking here for quite some time, ever since I first heard about this place. I can't say I'm too pleased with what I've seen.

This place has a hell of a lot of potential, and has utterly wasted it. It seems like y'all had the right idea at first. Create a bullshit-free board? Let the posters fend for themselves? Coordinate your humiliation of less enlightened boards? In theory it sounds fucking fantastic. In practice? Y'all blew it.

It seems to me the admins (if they can be called that) around here have no clue what to do with this board anymore. Are we trying to keep some retarded, forgotten memory alive here? Are we creating a board for all the poor, downtrodden, retarded, grammatically-challenged twelve year olds who are persecuted so viciously on the rest of the net? Are we pretending that this free-speech thing is still fun and trendy?

Everyone and their asshole has a dual or twelve on this board. Perhaps this was cute when there were only one or two. Now it's just sad. It's ruining a great concept you've got going here -- the only benefit I can see is the artificial boost in your member list.

This whole board is overrun by retarded, nonsensical spam. Doesn't anybody around here get it? Retarded nonsensical spam only works in small amounts. This is why Jayson is popular on TrekBBS. Small doses equal funny. Small doses slip under the radar. When it's the majority of your board? It's just lame. And anybody who actually enjoys replying to this shit has the critical taste of a Skating with Celebrities viewer. Then again, looking at your wrestling forum, perhaps I'm not far off base.

This place needs some serious clean-up. Clear out the lame duals. Do something about all this spam. This free speech shit, when taken too far, leads to a messy, unfun board. I know y'all cherish it like a monkey cherishes monkey shit -- but think about what it really means. The way y'all have worked it out, it's a total obstruction to any attempt at conversation. It needs to be re-thought.

So no, I'm not sure I'd fit in well here. At least, not in this board's present incarnation. For a supposedly enlightened, revolutionary board, y'all seem fairly closed minded to change. If y'all need some help taking out the trash, lemme know. Otherwise, sorry. It's an interesting train wreck to watch. But I wouldn't want to be in it.

Y'all say 'y'all' too many times, it's rather annoying. but onto the rest of your biting synopsis:

Y'all are missing an important aspect of this board. (damnit, you got me saying the 'y'all' thing now). The fact that people are free to do, to an extent what they want is the primary point. The overriding one that leads to everything else. It's not just policy, it's the very fabric of the board.

You can go and find any number of boards with the criteria you have so choicly made as neccecity. But yet we still have an active poster base here who enjoys the scene. Why is that?


Are they all twelve years old's? Are they all scrabbling at the bottom rung of intelligent society?


You would be surprised. We have a diverse membership:

Spammers, Trolls, Republicans, Liberals, Religious Right Wing, Religious Left Wing, Agnostics, Atheists, Conspiracy Theorists, Homosexuals, Bi-Sexuals, Tri-Sexuals, Professors, High School-Drop-Outs, Artists, Racists, Duals, Trouble Makers, and of course the imaginary TK Ruling Clique.

All under one roof, all discussing freely whatever comes to mind, from lifes big questions to laughable internal disputes.

Do not think yourself quite so in tune and correct with your assumptions. It seems to me that if you were in charge of TK you would destroy the very point of this place all in the name of your improvments.

TK has it's problems. It can be infuriating from tme to time, there are useless members here who like to disrupt and many duals that have nothing better to do than to try and seek attention. But with the bad is also the good, there is a lot to TK, and for you to say there is an obstruction of conversation here is rather ironic. Conversation is the point. ANY conversation. We have spam free zones to avoid trouble makers derailing the serious discussion and thats all that's neccesary.

You want to 'clean' up the board?

Sounds dubious to me, sounds like the start of 'policy' change in the name of making a better experience. It's not as easy as you lay it out to change TK for the better. Every slight change has to be thought through and there is always someone who is going to be unhappy about it.

I fear that you are trying to make a point with some strong sensibility behind you but are failing to grasp the charm. What isn't for you and what YOU don't approve of is not indicative of a better poster model. That's not how it works.

And TK excels in it's spam. We supply sophisticated originality and stupidity coupled with an overriding sense of pandemonium and mystification. The Minefield is the very apex of pop-culture discussion.



You need to hone your cognizance in regard to TrollKingdom, my friend.

"Y'all" is simply another contaction. Like "it's" or "you've". That it is in more common usage in my region of the country cannot be blamed on me. The English language was in dire need of a plural "you" form.

Anywho, I'm not just some passerby who gazed at the board for two minutes, disliked what he saw, and posted some rant to rile up the forumgoers. I've been lurking around this place, with variable frequency, for several months. I am intrigued. But no, I am not alltogether pleased.

The way I see it, your free speech policy has dumbed down the board. I am not saying that your entire memberlist is made up of twelve-year olds. But it has encouraged this perception, certainly. And the mentality. There's, quite simply, no reward for creativity in these parts. Want to make a retarded, shitty dual? It's just as allowable as the clever ones. You call yourselves a troll board, yet you encourage lazy trolling habits. Nobody need practice subtlety or intelligence -- creating a lame, racist retarded dual is ten times easier. And it's all the same to y'all -- I've sensed a certain fear of introducing subjective criteria into the "who goes, who stays, what gets deleted, what stays up" game the admins play, when in fact they are already playing this game. Subjective is impossible to avoid when human judgements are required -- there is simply a different cut-off between my ideas and the admins'.

I would diagnose your claim that free speech is the very fabric of the board as a vast fear of change. As I said, for a supposedly revolutionary board this place sure is stuck in a rut. It has obviously not always been this way. And it seems most of you predict it will not always be this way. What are you going to do, usher in change yourselves? You're way too comfortable. What happens is, people who don't like the board as it is simply pack up and go. The comfortable stay. When admins start suggesting change (I have read that "Hey, RobL" thread in its entirety, there simply aren't enough of the discontents remaining to step up and agree. The board stays in its rut, and nothing ever evolves around here.

I like the ideas here. And I've seen some good threads. But there's an embracing of this free speech thing where really, nobody here truly has it. Why pretend otherwise? There are limits, even here. Why not just cut the bullshit, accept these limits, and tweak them a tad here and there to make this place more livable? And encourage smart trolls for a change?

And no, I would not like a subscription to the DLA.
 
^ and that my friend is the lazy poster's view of how we should entertain the members. It's not an invalid observation, but it doesn't go far enough, and because it doesn't, you miss the point of TK.

It's not our job to babysit and have the cruise director plan your activities here. Do what you like [within the few rules we have, and even those are imposed on us by law] and make it what you like.

One of the most interesting things to observe around this place is what people do with their freedom here. You'd presumably use your freedom to rearrange the place to suit you. Which is fine, try to do it. Course they'll be someone come along and disagree, but that's the price of the freedoms we do allow here.

Look, it's messy and unorganized and that's what happens when you are lax on rules. It's a trade off. One we're all willing to make for what we get in return.

If you want nice, neat, and safe, you're in the wrong place.
