Nice? Safe? I don't want these things, and haven't claimed to.

I fail to see how my idea can be considered lazy. In fact, it seems precisely the opposite is true. Nothing I suggest would involve much extra effort. And I'm not really suggesting anything nearly as radical as people seem to think I am. Look, let me reduce it to three easy steps.

1) Delete obvious spam. Use somewhat stricter criteria on this than are used at present.

2) Merge forums. Why do you need 3 spam forums? How about 1? Half of these forums get very, very little traffic. Merge them into bigger ones. Talking in the chat, it seems most of these are holdovers from the distant past. Just what the hell are you holding onto?

3) Obvious duals are history. If they are clever and discreet, let 'em live. I have seen very few around here that fall into the latter category. There's not a very "high ideal" around here for trolling, eh?

Is that really such a big step in the wrong direction? Do you really see this as making the board "nicer"? "Safer"? All I'm really suggesting is an elmination of the clutter, without a radical redefinition of this place's personality. Is that so farfetched? Or are y'all really that stuck in a rut around here?

Never. That would destroy everything in one swift move. How do you define spam?

The Badlands has it's uses and it's a dumping point for spam attacks. The Minefield is one of the most celebrated, original and most visited forums on TK. It therefore has moved away from having to deal with some of the other spam that is beter suited for The Badlands and is not a dumping point.

The Daycare forum is used for those who try and attack the board or who activley try and mess the board up and make it less enjoyable for others. You have to cross a very visible line to be sent there.

I am sick of obvious duals as well. TRUST ME. But who becomes responsible for deciding who is culled?

It is not as easy as just saying it. It comes down to what happens at every other board. A few admins have the power to choose the fate of others posting patterns and enjoyment. It's a recipe for disaster. As Cait said: It's better to take the bad with the good, it is how we prefer it.

Nobody need practice subtlety or intelligence -- creating a lame, racist retarded dual is ten times easier.

Easier, certainly. But with a bit of creativity and thought injected into your posts and an attempt to rise above the generic posts of some you pave the way for your own respect and becoming a valued member of the community. I like to think that I am a creative poster who makes interesting and funny topics and has a unique view on the world and is therefore worth reading. I can't say, I think I do allright, it's the other posters who would have to decided.

I make is an ACTIVE point to be entertaining. And I enjoy a certain level of respect for my contribution to this board. The community here that I am a part of are all friends, we don't want moderators meddling in our off time on the internet when we just want to chill with our friends for a few hours.

I don't want TK radically changed and I am one of the most outspoken members against some of the shittier, low-brow behaviour found here.
 
No! Spam is important! It is my non-creative outlet. I just want to blather on without saying anything!

I hope that if you ever have a desire to post about a topic that is not welcome at other boards you frequent, you will come here.
