DREAM THREAD Part Pi.Pi!

Too much drink, bad egg foo young (even bad egg foo young is still egg foo young), forgetting to set the alarm, and restless pets contributed to a busy dream cycle last night. Opening act was assorted forgettable dreams where I dreamt I couldn't sleep. Closing act, I was walking my dog downtown and she jumped over a low stone retaining wall to attack what turned out to be a rat. The rat did manage to nip her on the leg and on further analysis, the rat had apparently been eating a large black bat (like vampire movie large). Dream me was like "boy, I hope that rabies shot worked."

The main event may be a bit boring, but it was extended and at least more or less cohesive. I was in a group, going to some kind of invitational wrestling tournament. It wasn't clear if it was military related but all the wrestlers I was traveling with were, of course, from my high school wrestling team--and at more or less their high school ages, since that's how I remember them. And I had my dog along with me. I feel like it was an individual tournament with no team scores--or it was pick-up teams because when people checked in they were given a singlet to wear (which were light/pastel shades for whatever reason). I was trying to figure out where to register but got sidetracked. Oh, and there was no coach. There was a young-ish blonde girl who was coordinating things for the group we came there in. I suspect she represented the young blonde girl who is my team lead at work, although she was modeled on an older young blonde girl from Portland. So we're doing kind of touristy things before the tournament and I'm taking a lot of naps? I forget. I was definitely in some motel room with a kind of Keanu Reeves character. And my dog. I was having a hard time getting good sleep so I was making up with quantity over quality. At one point the manager girl checked in on us but then later there was some cute girl who was apparently "Keanu's" girlfriend and she was bringing in breakfast takeout so I had to keep my dog away from her.

Later I'm on some escalator and I see all my friends, headed for the gym in their wrestling gear and I realize it's the day of the tournament and I forgot to check in! I'm trying to find the registration area to see if I can still sign up but then I also realize I don't have my wrestling shoes so I kind of give up and hope manager girl won't get in trouble for bringing me. But while this is unfolding, the escalator I'm riding takes me past the floor where I need to register and as I'm trying to get back down I decide it's faster to just use the stairs on both sides of the escalators and in between the up and down escalators. But there's people clogging them up too. Just as I'm starting to make progress, I realize the stairs are also going up and down but sometimes they go up, sometimes they go down, and sometimes they stop. And at one landing they're narrow enough that it's impossible to proceed. Furthermore, the moving stairs are pinching at my feet. Then they manage to eat the girl behind me to the waist so I decide I have to pull the emergency stop lever and help her out. This is a lot less traumatic than it sounds and just turned out to be a minor inconvenience.

Has one of those back at school, have an exam the next day dreams, but it was really detailed. I knew the exact thing I was supposed to be studying, had a book I was supposed to read, was really worried that I hadn't read it, spent several minutes when I woke up still with this feeling that I had to read the book but kept telling myself I'm not at school anymore. All my school friends were telling me off for not doing the studying and I felt ashamed. Fun.

Very straightforward one last night. I had roommates. And while they were out I had just about got the house cleaned up. Within minutes of them getting back it was trashed and destroyed again.

I think I was watching a trailer for a film about some future where the air had got so thin planes couldn't stay in the sky, suddenly I was there as a big plane fell through the clouds and headed for me, a little girl was frozen on the spot so I picked her up and tried to run away from where the plane was headed, but the plane kept struggling to stay in the sky, and every time it did it would stall again, and head for me again.

Nothing too interesting last night. Sitting around playing (more like playing with) a 3-string cigar box guitar. Of course, since it was a dream, I was just ridiculously skilled at it. I think the last time I picked up anything resembling a guitar in the real world, it was a toy guitar that one of my friends' friends' kids had forgotten at their place, and had one plastic string.

So that one was more or less true-to-life, then, because that's basically the entire function of roommates.

House too clean? Life too peaceful? Get a roommate.

...or a cat and/or dog. It was about constantly cleaning up after the cat and dog, and spending a week with my friend while he recovered from his hip replacement. And on a deeper, more abstract level, it was about how, every time you think you've got things figured out and taken care of, you get some new piece of news that makes you realize you have to start all over again.

Had at least two, but I forgot the second one--no, wait, now I remembered it.

The less memorable one, I was some kind of "Jeopardy!" player. But it was like, some kind of road show or something; not the actual program. Because there were at least 3 of us that kept being in games together. Me and another guy were giving the other guy a hard time because he'd been getting, like, 25 questions right in every game and he didn't want us to jinx him. And it was like, instead of winning money, you had to eat things like cookie dough if you won (or lost--I forget).

The other one was pretty classical. I think I was about college age and I was traveling with my Mom. I was at some hotel with some friends of hers and assorted other acquaintances, waiting for her to pick me up so I could go back to our hotel--and our room and my stuff--I didn't have my car so I was at her mercy and in the mean time I had to hang out with people and be social because I didn't have a room of my own. And I'm tired and all I have is the clothes on my back. Then my Mom got to the hotel, but she apparently just got a room. So I'm in the bar, trying to find out where she is and women keep coming up to the bar that look like my Mom but then turn out to not really look like my Mom and it is starting to be worrisome that I apparently don't even know what my own mother looks like as well as other people that know her. I mean, no one has really said anything, but I can tell they're starting to think it after the second time. And I'm pissed that I didn't bring my own car so I have to count on someone else.

I just escaped a conex located inside a military training facility.
It was a bunch of conexes put together.
Im sleeping with the lights on.
I did my first haunted walkthrough tonight.

We were in the same dream then. Just kidding.

2nd dream there was a puppy and I woke up and put him in a litterbox in the morning and he filled it with liquid.

Oh yeah, in a later dream was a baby....aw it was cute.

Lost The Cat Out last night (he's fine and eventually magically appeared from under the deck this morning like nothing happened). I think it contributed--I know it contributed to off-the-hook dreams.

First big budget one, there was some kind of ongoing ice storm/blizzard and we were trying to get cars of people moving to Safety in it. But it wasn't, like an overnight thing. It was the New Normal. So I'm standing around talking with someone near a freeway ramp about how, apart from cost to operate, a big Kenworth with no trailer is the way to go for transportation when one slowly flips coming down the ramp near us and I'm like "...except for that." Then a mob, led by Snake Plisken from "Escape from New York" drags the driver out of the cab to lynch him because he's just been smashing and running over cars left and right the past few weeks.

Next one, my cat is missing and I'm out in the yard looking for it when one of the neighbor kids says someone was killed down the road. Kid said "someone," not "a cat" but I'm thinking of heading that way in case they were swerving to avoid a cat or something. But The Dog has already started off that way on her own so I'm calling for her to wait while I'm trying to improvise a leash. Got The Dog on a leash but looking at how far away it was and how much of a crowd was already gathering, I decided to just go back home. Meanwhile, someone was...in a bell tower? On a cliff?...I don't know...signaling the grisly news (with semaphore flags? A bullhorn? Who knows?) I mention this to someone and they say something about how gossip is unseemly.

I was walking around Glasgow with my best friend from Primary school and a girl I went to high school with. It was really big and involved. I think once again I was talking to them about studying for an exam or something, a recurring theme in my dreams. It felt like we were walking around for hours. For some reason the guy went and got a haircut and me and the girl waited outside. But then a hidden door opened and loads of school kids came out and my friends vanished. Then I figured out that they had snuck off together back to a hotel(?) to hook up and felt hurt. I wandered around for ages trying to find the hotel and ended up walking home. It was tiring.

I used to have a recurring dream of walking home for miles, and never reaching it, or thinking I had, but when I got closer it wasn't the right one.

Now my recurring dreams are usually about needing the toilet and the stall doors don't lock.

I have a bathroom recurring dream

Used to have running/flying ones but those are done now

I still have recurring work dreams

Not particularly noteworthy, but this morning I dreamed I was at a fast food place and they were just about to close, so I felt bad asking if I could order, but the manager said it was no problem and let me order. This is only worth mentioning because after hitting the snooze, I again needed to eat and was at the same fast food place just as it was closing and they again let me place an order. That time I got the impression that the employees got to make themselves something at the end of the day so they just did my order while they were making theirs.

Dreams dude
But yo check it out

Tonight I had a nightmare
Something tapped me to wake up,

So I woke up
But nothing, no one was there
