Very involved dream this morning, with numerous transitions. Some recurring themes. I'll try to remember as much as I can.
Get in from a trip, but not to my house, to a friend's house (in Portland). I need clothes (am I naked? Improperly dressed? Just dirty? Don't remember) and my friend reminds me that I've got some spare clothes in an old dresser there and I apologize for being a ditz and forgetting this. I'm also really tired and taking a nap, but there's a party. One of the people at the party lives near my house so I want to arrange a ride home--and wake up before she leaves--because I need to get back to my dog and cat. (Is it my old dog and cat, from Oregon, or my current dog and cat? Who knows?) This is settled but I keep falling asleep and worrying I'll miss my ride. Oh, and there's a scrawny black kitten there that I'm playing with. (This is probably because of a GIF from ICanHasCheezburger that I watched before bed.) Then I realize everyone's gone and I worry I've missed my ride. I also worry because I can't remember how to get to my house (this is likely in part because the friend in the dream actually lives in the opposite direction from my Oregon house and I was conflating my Oregon house with my Kentucky house which, obviously, it's going to be pretty hard to remember how to get to from a house in Portland).
I go out the back door (it's night) and realize I'm OK, they're busy taking stuff to the car. Then I see a dog running around on the street so I take out my dog whistle (thinking it is my dog) and the dog runs right over but isn't my dog (and at this point I'm definitely dreaming about my current dog). I talk with the woman who owns the dog and tell her about the whistle and how my old dog had no interest in it but my current dog comes for it. Then I start trying to remember how to get to my house and wake up enough to realize I'm thinking about 2 different houses--at which point I wake up enough to realize that I'm in bed in my house and my cat and dog are somewhere nearby.
