Elwood's Crumbling Empire

One word: EFCL.

Elwood takes input. At the end of the day, he makes the decision after evaluating what he's received from poster and mods. And therefore, at the end of the day, he gets either the praise or the bricks.

Democracies online don't work. Neither do dictatorships. One should shoot for something in-between.
I have to admit, aside from hearsay, I don't know the history of any other boards except WF, TK, and TBBS. Not really a big poster outside this incestuous circle.

I'm not saying democracy. Someone has to be in charge. But the members of WF were happier when it was first opened. The atmosphere was different. There didn't seem to be as much of a defined hierarchy.

It was just more hidden earlier. There is nothing new under the sun.

And Cheeky...I don't condemn it per se...it just isn't going to do shit so what is the point??

The closest I've seen to that in-between is J. Allen's board. If there's a new rule he's unsure of whether to implement, he'll let the board decide in a vote and it if gets fity-one percent, it's implemented. From what I can tell, it works pretty well, even if it's not my cup of tea (Sorry Allen).

Also another factor is size. It has been my observation that the smaller the board, the more cohesive it is. The more people come to play, the more the chances for trouble and lack of unity.

J. Allen has a small board, still in the "we're all friends" stage.
