Hah. Agreed on all points. We still don't know anything about Johnson, except that he's jarringly out of place and conveniently knows what to do and where to go, like a magical black lady.
Thingy was starting to grow on me, but she was bound to die eventually because the teacher is clearly the matriarch of the group and you can't have two. At least her death meant the dad could finally use a different facial expression. I'm sure I've liked that guy in other things, but in this he's really dull and just doesn't react to anything.
The soldiers are all murderers, rapists, and terrible shots. Surely they could've put down more of the zombies with the equipment they had, even taking into account that it was a sudden onslaught.
Yeah, I'd understand it later on in their journey, but to be complicit in torture and the deaths of people who's only crime, by and large, was to be retreating, this early on seems a bit of a stretch. At least for nice normal people. If they were dicks already then ok.
Despite the gripes I do really like it tho. The characters feel reasonably natural and relatable, the acting is good and it looks like a movie. Makes a change from dreary TWD.
I splurged and bought myself a gigantic 4k TV. Things are very, very sharp and detailed. Looks awesome but it doesn't have the warm movie quality of film.
"Hey instead of showing how society collapsed, and how the military and united states goverment were completely overrun, let's just show a couple of shots of fighter planes bombing the hell out of some Malibu mansions, then spend the rest of the season on a boat!"
"Great idea!"
What a waste of a show. We were supposed to see what happened while Rick was in a coma. Instead, we get a bad remake of Gilligan's Island.
