The girls short program was pretty exciting. Some great skating, some big upsets and Adeliia was fantastic. Underscored but it was expected and they couldn't do too much damage because she skated clean. She also chose not to unleash the 4T yet. She has to land it in the next skate though to get a medal. Overall happy going into the next skate but still nail biting stuff.

Adelia Petrosyan after the short program at the
🇮🇹
Olympic Games 2026:

"In my opinion, everything was very calm. I really enjoyed my performance, and I hope the audience did too. Mentally and psychologically, I was relaxed. I wasn't nervous. These are my first Olympic Games, so I don't feel much pressure. We'll see how it goes in the free program.

When I found out that my coach [Daniel Gleichenhaus] could be with me at the rink, I was happy. It means that there are more familiar people around me, and it's easier for me. I feel more support. Daniel Gleichenhaus helped me focus on my performance. I think he was more nervous than I was. And I'm glad I didn't let him down.

I'm quite happy with my score. It's good, and I'm pleased with it.

I don't live in the Olympic Village. We live in an apartment not far from here. It's easier to get to the rink - I can even walk there or take a taxi. I live with my mom, and I think she couldn't have lived with me in the Olympic Village."

Amber Glenn? I hope to be in the same warm-up group with them. I haven't seen them much yet, because we're all in different training groups. But it would be great to be in the same warm-up and compete with them"

Eteri Tutberidze upended the last Winter Games with her trio of Russian teenagers with a terrifying technical arsenal of quadruple jumps. Two went home with gold and silver medals. The other went home as the central figure in an international doping scandal.
Now Tutberidze is back with her latest protégée.

This is my third Olympics since I started properly following this sport and specifically the Russian girls and it's always weird as fuck when the main stream media and world focusses on them and the sport during the Olympics.

Adeliia went for the quad toe which was a gutsy and necessary choice but underrotated and couldn't land it.
😰
Recovered well and put in a great skate but the judges put her a fraction behind Amber Glenn putting her in second. Amber was over scored for me, but it is what it is. If Adeliia had landed the quad it wouldn't have mattered. She should be very proud of herself all the same!

I'm kind of glad we're done. This has been unusually stressful for the past few days!

Between Adeliia crying and the little monkey getting bullied in the Japanese zoo I've had enough external emotional turmoil this week.

I really am glad the Winter Olympics are OVER (in any way I care about)

Well its been a difficult tournament but it WAS an entertaining one. Big congrats to Alysa Liu for taking gold and also trolling the fuck out of MAGA. She is a lot of fun and she did skate a fabulous routine.

Still feeling bad for little Petrosian. She is taking way too much on her shoulders and blaming herself for letting everyone down which is of course nonsense. She was the only one with the GUTS to go for the quad. It's actually pretty crazy that NOBODY else went for it. She knew she HAD to land one to medal and probably two to win the gold and it just wasn't to be. She hasn't had them consistently since her injury so it was always a long shot. Couple that with the insane pressure of the Olympics and yeah. She still did brilliantly though and I hope that she bounces back fast and stops blaming herself.

Alysa Liu's attitude winning was also extremely emotionally healthy and I am pleased for her.

The stress of competition is over but we still have the exhibition skates. I think Adeliia is skating her Shakira routine which will be fun to watch, it lets her show off her more artistic side anyway, when she doesn't have to worry about the insane jumps in the competitive skate sections.

It was also nice to see her interacting with the other skaters. She has seemed isolated because of the political issues with representing Russia and how tightly controlled the whole Eteri school of coaching is. She didn't even stay in the Olympic Village.
