I guess I'm just trying to understand the thinking: you're trying to "legitimize" the Badlands by spamming it up? And to what end? Will the "legitimized" Badlands serve a different purpose?
And to be honest, I never would want to call the MF "legitimate" -- it takes away some of the allure. We are non-trolls having too much fun on a troll board; AFAIC, every day is a gift.
Oh, and BTW, the one thing that gets me in "fussy put-upon admin" mode at TK is spam flooding. When my personal New Posts page is ruined, I bring the drama while I'm cleaning it up. But then I get over it. Gagh is a mate, and sometimes we do this dance, and then we move on. Because it's just spam. Spam is a disposable commodity. If things ever get tight here, I know the spam is the first to go. C'est la guerre is about all I can say to that...

I suppose it's a question of whether or not believes there's levels of quality to spam. If your typical MF Trek-sex/Big Brother/Wookie thread and your typical Badlands "this used to be about something else, but it's now about how much falconarg sux" thread both havethe same value as to your typical GOIWGJ}QRKQ_TJ thread, then the Badlands wouldn't serve any other purpose.
If however, there IS a difference in the quality of spam, if a menu is NOT as good as a myth, then the Badlands gives people the choice of two-seperate non-troll forums to choose from. Since the interests and means of expression of both groups is distinct from one-another, I don't see that it would be redundant.

You have the freedom to be non-trolls on a troll forum without every random poster/admin dumping 10+ pages of PIEQGFAL:NFDZAVNLASLVF in your own chosen forum of non-trollishness. That's what I meant by "legitimate".
You'll note of course that the goal of the spamcapital is to form a sort of quarentine for all the SPAM/FLOOD nonsense so that the Badlands can function as an actual working sub-forum.

That's not a god-given freedom. FOrum dumps used to happen. And they could happen again. But since at least 2 of the 31 TK admins are card-carrying MFers (I love writing that LOL), it just doesn't happen as often as it used to.
Many veteran/former TKers make the complaint that the board dies when things become too "legitimate". While my service to missmanners presently affords me certain advantages, when it comes to TK I take nothing for granted. These are fairly comfy days for the MF, but that could change just as easily as anything else does here.
