Having said that, I'm going to explain my connection with Osama bin Laden:
Indirectly (friends of friends), I knew six people who died in the WTC.
A friend of my daughter's is a NYC fireman. He was evacuating people from the North Tower when his dispatcher told him to get the hell out because the South Tower had just gone down.
He remembers the 17th-floor stairway coming down behind him as he ran. Next thing he knew, he was on the ground and people were asking him if he was okay. The palms of his hands were burned, but he sustained no other physical injuries. But he's only recently stopped having nightmares.
Cousin of mine is a NYC police officer. He wasn't onsite that day, but several people from his unit died. Out of respect for his privacy, I won't share the details of his life since, but it hasn't been pretty.
My daughter was on a subway traveling under the WTC 10 minutes before the first plane hit.
Anyone...anyone...who presumes to tell me I'm gloating because Osama bin Laden is still at large is an asshole of such monumental proportions it's a wonder he can fit through a doorway.
And now I will take my first ever warning for flaming.
Note, please, Number_6, not my first warning ever. More like my fifth or sixth.
But I have not, to this point, received a warning for flaming for one reason.
Not, as your paranoid conspiracy theories promulgated here and on other boards would have it, because "she gets special treatment because she wrote a couple of mediocre Star Trek novels," but because I'm mature enough not to lose my temper on a bbs.
What you're reading here is not anger, but a deliberate action to put the lie to your "garamet never gets warnings" bullshit. I'm going to save it and reiterate it every time you dredge up the lie again.
