GeForce7900GTX QUAD SLI system snapped at Nvidia HQ

Way back in the day (When I was like 16), my older brother bought 2 Voodoo 2's for about $120 a piece and daisy-chained them together, and his PC was TEH SHIT for all of two months or so. Those 7900's cost like $500 a piece!

*ROTFLMAO @ daisy-chaining video cards together* WTF kind of moron pays that kind of money? Who the fuck needs that kind of performance? OMMFG. *wipes away my tears of laughter*

So... am I not interesting? Or wasn't that sarcasm?

Actually, with the way an SLI system works (if I understand it right) any graphics intensive game would benefit from that. How it works is, each of the cards handles 1/4 of the image being output to your monitor. Which means you could ramp the resolution all the way to max, turn all detail up to max, full anti-aliasing, full ani filtering, all the bling -- and they'd still chug out beautiful framerate with a maniacal little laugh.

Yeah, they are made with this type of set-up in mind. You can also get mobos with 4x PCI-E slots. I know MSI make a model.

Damn. I'm stuck with just one PEG slot. (Same as PCI-E, I think, if PCI-E also means PCI Enhanced)

In the end, you would really have to NEED that level of performance to justify the expense. Although EVERYONE would love that level performance. RIGHT?

Well hell, I doubt there's a single game out there that would REQUIRE that level of performance -- unmodded, that is. HOW EV AWR!

Battlefield 2 can be "hacked" to exceed the 64 max player limit. With a Quad SLI setup populated with 512mb 7800s or 7800GTXs, you could probably kick it up to 512 max players. That's you plus 511 other "players" on a single map with 0% graphical slowdown. That would be CHUST EENZANE!!!

Of course that would require some 500 people with $6,000.00 computers.

*quick calculation*

WHY THAT WOULD BE OVER $30.00 WORTH OF COMPUTERS!

If you could quad that quad you would have a pc with 16 graphics cards, and would be so fast it would actually go back in time.

The case would be about four foot tall though, and need to be powered by a nuclear reactor and cooled by the entire artic circle.
