Gotham season 1

I watched the first episode because it was on tv.

It was pretty bad for all the reasons everyone said. It was kind of campy but they played it too straight so it didn't work as camp or a serious drama. Godon's "hot" (she wasn't) girlfriend was a really terrible actress.

SHOULD I KEEP WATCHING FUCK'S SAKE.
 
I still watch it. I think there are really good moments, but then there are bad ones, so I can't tell you to keep watching.

There was a really cute new girl on last night's... so there's THAT.
 
The only character worth watching right now is the Penguin, who is so slimy and sleazy he's interesting. All the rest, even the actors who are good in other things, are hampered by the simplistic and downright awful writing. Even the 11 yr old watching with me said "I can tell everything that's coming next!" It was not a compliment. Unless this show figures out who its audience is, it will be scrap heap material.
 
Nerd confession: last night when Penguin eliminated his crew to get rid of evidence by feeding them poison pastries, did anyone else say ut loud "Take the guns. Leave the cannolli. "?
No? Just me, then? Well ok.
 
The ratings are good, considering it's in a suicide slot against Big Bang Theory, Dancing with the Stars AND The Voice. That's why it got a full season. DWTS and The Voice will be done in several weeks, so it has the potential to pick up even more viewers down the road.

I still believe that it will improve with time. Watch for a new show runner to be hired for season 2.
 
The second episode was a bit better. But still the tone is so weird. Half the time it's completely campy, then something like Selina gouging a guy's eyes out (wtf) will happen and it feels out of place.
 
I think Fish Moody is beginning to become a better character now. She's still over the top, but THIS IS BATMAN okay yeah everything is a bit over the top.
 
The problem with everything being over the top is that Jim's character so straight and vanilla that he doesn't fit at all.

And his girlfriend can't act.
 
Maybe she dies and he gets a better actress girlfriend. I DON'T KNOW.

The weapon Fish Moody hired is very cute.
 
I liked the part where the DIDDLING PRIEST was shown being lifted by the balloon on tv in the background. That was good zany humour.

But there was still too much "it's bad to beat suspect!" "EVERY SUSPECT SHOULD BE BEAT AT ALL TIMES!" "NO!" "BEAT BEAT BEAT!" stuff and Fish Moody overacting and what's the point of having Angel from Dexter if he's not wearing his Angel hat?
 
The Goat episode was on here last night. It was much better than the Balloonman episode. I think the show is very slowly starting to improve, but of course it could go either way every time it's on.
 
Like I said, this is definitely a show where season 1 is spent finding the right tone and shaking out the bugs and the Tasha Yars.

A year from now we'll be all OH MAN THAT WAS SO GOOD BOOBLE SQUOOBLE MEEP MEEP!
