I auditioned for the original Sonic Youth in 1978, played two gigs at small clubs with them in Anaheim. That was fun, and it's a different band these days.

Sister is probably my favorite SY album
 
I like Sister, but I'm pretty fascinated by the Murray Street project they're in the middle of. What's interesting about this is some of the music on this second album they literally worked out during some live gigs in Manhattan in 99. Pretty fantastic stuff..it's a much "newer" sound. When they signed in 1981 they were a fucking ROCKING punk band. Period.

Speaking of Sonic Youth...remember MX 80 SOUND?
