Big Dick McGee
If you don't know, now ya know
On the recommendation of Laker_Girl, I watched the premiere of Hell's Kitchen last night. Now, I'm not a big fan of reality TV; in point of fact I think it's mostly dreck that's pushing quality scripted shows from the airwaves. The only reality shows I watch with any regularity are "The Big Break" on TGC (because I love golf, even amateur golf) and "Inked" (because I'm going to Vegas on Thursday and getting tatted at H & H!). My point is, reality shows usually suck ass.
Hell's Kitchen, on the other hand, KICKS ass!! Many people have commented that Gordon Ramsay is a prick, he's foulmouthed, he's obnoxious, he's a tyrant. Nope, not even close.
Chef Ramsay just has incredibly high standards when it comes to the food being served in his restaurant. I highly respect that. I mean, if I am paying $200 for a meal, it'd better be excellent, and the service better be stellar. Ramsay just won't accept anything less than that. As a fan of fine dining, I'd seek out his restaurants.
I didn't watch the last season, but this season's contestants all seem like fuck-ups, with Heather being the sole exception. She burned her hand very badly last night, but as she was soaking it in ice she was still delegating tasks to her team. Very nice, and Ramsay praised her for that.
All in all it's looking like a very good show! I like the fact that Fox is compressing the season by showing back-to-back eps each week; with TiVO, I can zip through them in 90 minutes or so. It's popcorn summer entertainment, and it's great. Good call, LG, and THANKS!!
