No, actually, religions vary as to their approach toward outsiders. Something to watch for, in the case of cults, is a fortress mentality: us vs. them in a life or death struggle.
 
zoasters, for instance, believe everyone will be saved regardless.
pagans tend to go for 'if it works for you, it works for you, but we're not going to convert you'.

And of course, some people want you in their 'lifeboat' (whatever that may be!) regardless.
 
I too am totally amazed this thread hasn't been overrun with mods and admins from EI explaining in the most sarcastic fashion how deluded I am for even starting this topic.

Not one solitary word. Sometimes even silence can provide an answer. ;)

The truth is, betcha betcha, that registration will not be turned on until they are absolutely convinced they won't be swarmed by TK dual accounts bent on wreaking havoc.
 
Odd trivia time: if you register with a proxy, your name won't show up in the Newest User slot. I know this from experience.

I wonder if Orfice can turn that slot off, turn regging back on, and let new users in while looking as if regging is still turned off? I occasionally check names I don't recognize for reg dates, but haven't found anyone who regged after Ruadh.
 
^ I have also been watching for anyone that has a join date after Ruadh and haven't seen a single one yet, after Nov 05.

EI needs to turn on registration soon, my board members can't wait ;)
 
Only what's on their lists for proxies. Elite proxies, by their very function, cannot be detected by normal proxy-sniffing software. Orph knows this, so he keeps an up-to-date list of known proxies.

Now, on the surface, this sounds like she's saying "I don't know the reason." That would be a lie, since she's a mod and there's no way the topic has NOT been discussed in the SL.

However, if you read it for comprehension, it really says "I can't give any sort of explanation because we're not discussing it outside the SL."

She has to say something...too many EIers come here to read and might see this thread and think "hmmm...why ISN'T registration back on?"

No one said you were. That's not the point, so don't misdirect. It doesn't take a tech or an admin to state what the situation is. As I pointed out, it has to be a topic of conversation in the EI SL. No way it couldn't be.

So, thanks for stopping by and saying exactly nothing. Next time, send a man who might conceivably have a pair of balls and make a real statement.
