I love how the usual idiots whine that landlords want so much proof of being a good candidate. Of course they do. You stupid fucks have literally made it illegal to get bad renters out so now no one will take any chances what so ever. Yes, if that means refusing a candidate on even the most minor things and demanding extras like showing you have spare cash available in accounts then landlords will do that. Hell, it is very common to get 50 applications on a single house around here so you want as much information as possible to weed out 49 losers and arrive at the winner who has the best record and ability to pay.

Don't like that? Increase competition by allowing more housing to actually get built and stop trying to chase small landlords out of the business with your retarded and one sided laws which always shit on landlords and small businesses.

For me it is a mix of amazement about how surprised and confused they are that landlords would finance houses and then charge a rent that covers the mortgage, maintenance, insurance, and leave some income to boot and the people who bitch about inequality and an unfair system that also intentionally do things like rent instead of own.
 
I have rented my whole adult life. Never really made much of a difference. I have a lovely nest egg in investments and could care less about maintaining a home that I "own".

Speaking of that, I'm buying a nice truck on Tuesday. :D
 
I've invested my whole life. But I've never had a $100,000 investment that generated $12,000 in dividends a year--while increasing 40% in value in less than 5 years. Yes, there's more work and more risk, but more return.
 
They managed to go several days before blaming the heatwave in Seattle on Global Warming. But once they went there, they also blamed the Florida condo collapse on Global Warming and pointed out how eeevil Capitalism was because The Rich could afford luxurious Air Conditioning while the Proletariat had to swelter in misery and how inherently unjust it would be that supply and demand would dictate who got AC.

Here you'd get fucked by the yearly rent increases not to mention missing out on 10% leveraged capital appreciation per year.
 
Downside to renting: Yearly rent increases.

Downside to "owning": Thanks to property tax, you never do actually "own" your home, anyway. You're always paying rent. It's just a question of paying it to a landlord, or paying it to a government.

Yes, that thread sure is a fucking dumpster fire. From the pictures you highlighted, to Jennie not understanding the difference between a rental property and a condo association, to Tucker lying and claiming I hate homeless and immigrants... The whole thing is a joke and shows the idiots just believe whatever they want wrt to facts. Shit, Tucker was even bragging that some stupid leftist illegally drained the fire hydrant system to make a kid pool for homeless drug addicts. What the moron Tucker didn't know or brag about was the next day that same leftist was killed by a cracked out homeless person for no reason other than because he was there.

Most of those people had their brains fall out due to hyper partisanship. I used to point out that the majority of the homeless problem was drug related and that we shouldn't be enabling bad behavior/anti-social behavior and that a whole lot of tough love was needed with the hard-core cases. Also said, we should have a points system for immigration based upon skills and ability to adapt to American life but that we should also massively increase enforcement against law breaking illegal aliens. To dip shits like Tucker that some how means I hate homeless and immigrants.

It is one of the reasons I left that place because you literally had mods lie all the time. From Ancalagon deleting his past posts then playing word games to hide the stupid shit he posted to Tucker saying the shit I mentioned up above... Add on the terminal infection of TDS they were suffering from and it just got stupid to the extreme.

Plus their whining just boils down to "I could have planned a head and bought fans or AC units but chose not to do so. Thus I will just bitch about capitalism, like I always do, and ignore my own poor choices."
