Is it time to bring back magazines?

I can still see a use for physically printed books. But for magazines, digital distribution is simply more time and resource effective. And I say that as somebody who regularly writes for a print magazine. (I see the flaws in the model, not in the paychecks.)
 
Magazines made good flyswatters. Magazines you will be missed. And blamed for the increase of the housefly population in my apartment.
 
I despise picking up a magazine and being told to go online to find out more information.
I despise being on line at same magazine and being told to buy the paper copy.
P.S. I never do either.
 
I find reading a physical magazine a much more comfortable experience compared to holding a stiff, heavy iPad that'll switch off if you get too absorbed in reading and don't touch the screen for a while.

Hopefully the long promised digital paper technology will be a step toward bringing the experience back.
 
No new magazines have been published in the last two years. If you think you've seen a new magazine in that time, you've actually seen an old one that someone has lefty lying around.

(Kidding, it's true. 70 years from now, I'll go back in time and deposit magazines FROM THE FA-YOOT-CHERRRRR everywhere.)
 
I kind of miss the magazine sales chicks who used to pop by, trying to sell me subscriptions to magazines. Apparently if they got enough orders they'd get a free trip to the Bahamas or something. Probably a scam, but I used to invite them in for beer anyway. (And then not buy any subscriptions)
 
I used to greatly anticipate a new magazine issue in my mailbox each month.

The trouble is that the magazines I loved either shut down, or changed and aren't essential anymore.

Also I have become a digital addict. I bought an online subscription to Rolling Stone once, and was actually annoyed that it automatically included the print version each month. WHAT THE FUCK MAN.

Thank you for the reminder about a handsome gentleman I spent time with who came to my door selling magazines. I conveniently just got out of the shower.
Dammit 2 day flings!
 
I still get magazines sometimes, like Southern Living. I LIKE THE RECIPES OK.
