I love those old posters, I've got a couple of old rick griffin "originals". When I was growing up , Airplane used to play in a club called "Boston Tea Part" just outside of Kenmore Square (now Government Center in Boston)
oh fuck, I got to see Genesis perform "The Lamb Lies Down on Broadway" in Albany back then, and fucking Bill Bruford doubled with Collins on some of the stuff. Fripp showed up , and Greg Lake was there too, so they were doing some Crimson.
Remember Yes? They performed "Close To The Edge" at this club in Albany for the album release party, and that was some show.
Blues for Allah is my favrit Dead album, but the early stuff is really where it's at. Dead shows were always sort of not my cup of tea, although the Watkins Glen gig was an anomaly, between them and the Allman Brothers, forget jam bands
I really liked their Warlocks stuff and the Merry Pranksters period also.
