so here in the colonies we actually had a big bonfire at my friend's place (she was born in England) and ate treacle and potato cakes and lit fireworks and burned poor old Guy in effigy because we couldn't get our OWN Prime Minister as he'd conveniently chosen this time to visit India for "trade talks". FUN!
(yes, there's vicious undertone to Canadians).
