LOST FINALE

From what I saw, it probably blew the whole place. What effect this would have is anyone's guess. I've been wondering too if the healing effects of the EM field would still be in effect. We don't know HOW Locke got paralyzed, so maybe some damage was reversed. In Rose's case, the cancer is gone (she thinks) but it could come back.

I think it's safe to say the Swan hatch itself is pretty well destroyed at this point, meaning there won't be any more number entry. I guess we don't really know if the anomaly was responsible for the healing or not, really, except for Rose's faith healer in Australia referring to certain focal points on the planet. The healing factor could be something else entirely.

I never thought of that, myself. He was also dosing himself regularly before he left. Maybe he thought "better safe than sorry." Or maybe the producers goofed. This shit IS getting rather complicated, you know.

Every nine days for three years. I guess that could become a habit after awhile. I'm not really clear on the timeline as far as the point that Kelvin "died" (and I suspect he's still alive) and when Desmond left the hatch. It was at least a year, right? I'll chock it up to fear.

Because Locke convinced him that it was all a psychological experiment and mentioned observation from the Pearl hatch. Only when Locke mentioned the logs did Desmond look through them and realize "oh fuck..."

Yeah, but I was thinking of the flashback after Desmond "killed" Kelvin and didn't get back to the hatch in time to enter the numbers. He definitely saw the magnetic effects going on after the heiroglyphics came up on the timer...only after he saw the logs did he piece together the idea that he may have been responsible for the crash of 815. So why would he think that not entering the code would do nothing? Flying metal objects aren't to be trifled with.

The plane was to meet with Jack and the others on the beach. That all went south with the land force's capture by the Others. I hope Sayid, Jin, and Sun don't wait too long...they're Jack's ace in the hole.

There could be some undetermined time factor involved, I guess. Remember, Sayid went to the Others' camp and found empty huts and a fake Dharma hatch. Maybe he went back to the boat and the black smoke the jungle crew saw was a diversion set up by the Others?

I think Jack and Kate had a secret plan. Sayid told Jack not to mention the signal fire and deviation to the beach to Sawyer, Kate and Hurley, but obviously he did since Sawyer commented on the smoke. Maybe Jack's made contingency plans since he...I dunno...knew he was probably walking into a trap!

I'm relatively certain Jack and Kate had some unmentioned plan in the works given the nods. I don't know if Sawyer is privy to that information, though.

Cynthia Watros is scheduled for several guest appearances next season...I'm guessing in flashbacks. I've been suspicious of her for awhile since she has that "Other" disposition. We haven't seen or heard the last of Libby.

I'll say it right now...she's a Widmore or a Hanso or has something to do with the various factions. I don't know. And since her CBS pilot didn't get picked up, I think we'll be seeing more of her next year than originally planned.

It did, and that was seriously fucked up. The same bird appeared in the season 1 finale when Jack's party was walking the dynamite to the hatch door. Look back, and you'll see it right before ol' Smoky shows up.

I thought that might have been the same bird. I'll have to go back and review, but did it "say" anything then?

Because the Others don't want the Lost ones to starve. That and they fully understand that mangos three times a day starts sucking after awhile. That's my guess.

 Yeah, that makes perfect sense! Obviously, they have access to boats and ways off the island, so why not? In the Pearl orientation video, Marvin Candle/Mark Wickman (or whatever his name was) told the team to take the ferry back to the headquarters when their shift was done. Note that the dock at the end of the show had a sign on it: PALA FERRY

The Others are benevolent. Some of the things they've done seem fucked up, like hanging Charlie, but their agenda is a good one. The island is a proving grounds or a sanctuary of some sort, and the Others are there to see something through.

Most likely, given what we've seen so far. I'm drawn back to the "One side light, the other dark" backgammon analogy Locke drew in one of the first episodes, though. If the Others are the good guys, who are the bad guys?

Yeah, I've been wondering that. I think we have been led to believe there is only one group of 'others'. I don't that is true. I think there are two different groups.

The lack of reaction of the 'others' in the end to the 'light and sound' of the hatch being melted down makes me think they are not part of the 'others' running Darma. In fact, I think the leader dude planted the seeds of doubt in Locke's head specifically hoping he would end up destroying the hack.

If it's not the EM field, then I don't know what.

Des killed Kelvin the day the plane crashed.

Yeah, but I was thinking of the flashback after Desmond "killed" Kelvin and didn't get back to the hatch in time to enter the numbers. And this becomes the weak spot in Des' story character. He lets Locke sucker him into seeing what happens when the button isn't pushed. It's difficult to swallow.

Interesting point. The smoke did come from the beach, but when the EM shock hit, Sayid, Kim and Jin were on the boat.

I'm relatively certain Jack and Kate had some unmentioned plan in the works given the nods. I don't know if Sawyer is privy to that information, though.

Hard to tell. Sawyer had that look that's hard to read. However, from the look on Kate's face, I don't think she was crazy about the "plan."

Oh really! That changes things. But you're right...she's popped up in too many places at interesting times to not be involved somehow.

I thought that might have been the same bird. I'll have to go back and review, but did it "say" anything then?

I looked back on it this morning, and it said "Hurley." Swear to God. And Hurley looked at it, but didn't say anything. That had to be unnerving.

Which brings up an interesting point. Read this: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Island_(novel)

Think about this: since the show's beginning, there's been subtle hints that things are reversed.

The right side of the body has always been considered the "good side" and the left side the "bad side." "Sinister" was originally Latin for "left" after all. Locke takes a scar over his right eye. When explaining backgammon to Walt, he holds the black piece in his right hand and the white piece in his left hand. When Claire dreams about meeting him in the jungle, his right eye is black and his left eye is white. It's been said over at The Fuselage website that in one scene the Big Dipper is shown flipped from its normal position...though I didn't see this.

Ah, another thing to check back on. These guys are masters of weird continuity.

Faaascinating. I've read that book a few times (albeit years ago) and didn't make the connection. There are a number of literary references in this show that may or may not have anything to do with the story at hand, but you have to give them credit for doing that and keeping us confused.

Interesting, and I've picked up on most of this except for the Big Dipper thing. Where would that have been? The only episode I can think of that had a visible starfield is the one where Sayid and Hurley are listening to the shortwave broadcast of Moonlight Serenade and the camera pans up to the sky. Gotta check that one, too.

Quite possibly, or at least that's the impression I've gotten as well. There's no solid answer yet either way.

Which would indicate that "Henry" was familiar with the Swan hatch and its function and lied to Locke when he said he didn't enter the code. Yeah, I'll have to take a break for awhile and then review the entire season again and look for obscure clues I missed the first time around.

WARNING: THIS IS RETARDED...proceed at your own risk.

As a side note, I had a dream the other night that Justine Bateman (???) threw me a ring of keys and asked me to go to her basement to find a new light bulb for her Lava Lamp(R). When I got down there I saw a wall full of safe deposit boxes all of which were labeled "Borgs8472, The Hanso Foundation". I proceeded to try each key in each box (!), and the only one I could open was a box which contained a picture of that stupid "O RLY?" owl.

Yep, time for a break. :wtf:

OMG! I had the SAME dream!

Well, it's gotta mean something...who the fuck would put a talking bird in a show twice without having a reason for it?

One of the producers said that anyone who's read The Third Policeman will be well-armed in understanding the show. That book appeared on the shelf in the hatch, and is now enjoying an increase in sales.

Interesting, and I've picked up on most of this except for the Big Dipper thing. Where would that have been? No clue other than it's somewhere in the first season in a night time beach scene.

I'm a huge lost fan, but I'm becoming afraid it will end up in a dumb plot reveal, such as the characters are all drugged and in some lab.

We sure were treated with some top class TV in the second season, and as they've shown with Boone, Shannon and Ana-Lucia, anyone is expendable.

I'm hoping the third season will see an explanation of who the Others are, and may see them absorb the survivors of Flight 815 in their own population, if they are, as I feel they may be, fellow survivors from another accident.
