24 in its awesome first season had a whole dragged out middle section concerning amnesia and some other hackneyed shit that the producers later admitted was there only because they had planned the arcs poorly and ran out of story before the season was over.
hahahah...you remember that, too?

I always suspected the poor execution of the middle section of 24's 1st season was what led to the decision to have JB's wife killed off at the end of that season. I personally hated her character on the grounds that she was too stupid to live.

Well, as far as "24" goes that whole subplot was obviously designed to showcase Stupid Kim and her tits. Nice tits, btw. She later faced down a cougar and was held in a bunker by Kevin Dillon who was playing some sort of survivalist, which was an even stupider subplot than Terri's sudden amnesia, but there we have it.

The worst, though, was when she came back the next year with an awful haircut and became a CTU agent who spent most of her time fretting over her boyfriend and his illegitimate child. BORING.

I was not against the character as a rule, although I hated the daughter by the middle of the second season. I felt the death of the wife and the turning of his best friend Nina was a shocking twist I didn't see coming, so it worked very well for me. The amnesia stuff only made me wince at the writing, it was such a glaring departure from the excellence that came before it.

Unfortunately, I drifted away from 24 after the second season so I haven't watched in the last couple years except a couple bits here and there. I understand this last one was good; I just haven't been much for tv at all this year.

We used to joke during the first season, that sometime during that year there would be an entire episode devoted to Jack catching a nap, and the big development for that episode would be when he drooled on the pillow or scratched his nuts and got up to piss.

^^Dude, you should definitely check out this season of 24 if you get the chance!! This season was almost as good as season one!

Actually, that had nothing to do with it at all. Michelle Rodriguez was only contracted for one season and was quite clear that she would move on...thus they knew Ana Lucia would die sometime this season.

Cynthia Watros, or Libby, has been offered a show on CBS for next season. You might see her again this season...I doubt those two rounds were immediately fatal...but don't look for her next season.

Yes. She was contracted for one season, stating that she is a nomadic soul anyway. They presented her with a storyline that put her out of the show in some style, she accepted and signed terms.

The Libby character however, is a different matter. She appears to be some sort of lynchpin to the storyline.
