Movies seen in 2023

Totally Killer (2023) - Watched it because Kiernan Shipka is the star, was actually pretty good. Comedy time travel/horror movie. Was quite funny at times and Shipka was very good as the teenageer who travels back in time to stop her mother's murder. The tone was slightly weird at times, maybe, as for the most part it's a light-hearted time travel thing but then you get some pretty brutally depicted murders (lots of stabbing.) But yeah I liked it fine!

Dungeons and Dragons: Honour Among Thieves (2023) - It was good fun. Light-hearted but didn't treat the whole setting as a joke. I've never played D&D but it doesn't seem to have pissed off fans so that's good. Cast worked well together. Some fun action and dragons. The girl who turned into things was cute. I did think it was a bit long and Hugh Grant's character felt a bit like a lesser version of his Paddington 2 character. Maybe they should have had the witch woman in it a bit more before the end? But it was good!

Scream VI (2023) - Another fun entry for the franchise. The new cast from the previous movie ("the core four") definitely felt like the main characters here with Courteney Cox having a small but fun part. Melissa Barrera as Sam in particular was much, much better in this one and felt like the proper lead character. Lots and lots of brutal stabbings which were quite thrilling and fun (unless you don't enjoy brutal stabbings!) Pretty funny and a strong cast. The weakness I'd say was the reveal of the actual killers themselves. The movie hints that it's going to do something more interesting and subversive with the excellent cold open ("who gives a fuck about movies?") but in the end their motivation is pretty standard silly horror movie shit. But I guess it is a pretty silly horror movie at its core! I will certainly watch the invetibale sequel.

I just watched Nyad. Should I post it in the Netflix thread instead? It was good. I recommend it. True story.

Oh No.

Am I allowed to post movies I already saw in another year and now I am rewatching?

Hunger Games.

Boy are they depressing tho! I just finished the 2nd one.

Okay this is dumb.
An announcement came over the radio saying a cyber attack was having an environmental impact and affecting animal migratory patterns.

So basically GPS is borked everywhere and boats are grounding, planes are crashing.....they saw the boat ground but didn't hear the plane crashes.

And then there is underlying racist tones from JULIA ROBERTS!

Ha Ha Teslas fucking driving themselves, all stuck on the expressway. Fucking elon musk. omfg

I have a hard time watching new movies and new things sometimes. I tend to fast forward or read what is going to happen. I'm trying really hard to stick to this one.

You will never ever ever guess how the movie ends. But if you like friends, you will watch it.
