p.s. I liked The Full Monty and City of Angels but never thought of them as musicals per se....are they listed as such?

Lots of dancing and musical numbers in the Full Monty. I wouldn't exactly go so far as to call it a musical, however it does have some merrit. Haven't seen City of Angels so I can't offer an answer.

None of the musicals I mentioned were films, or referred to the film version of them.

There is a stage version of The Full Monty that is a musical. It ran on Broadway from Oct 2000-Sep 2002. City of Angels was a noir-style Cy Coleman musical that ran on Broadway Dec 1989-Jan 1992, and won the Tony for Best Musical that season. Its story has nothing to do with the Meg Ryan-Nick Cage movie, which was based on Wim Wenders' Wings of Desire. (I thought I heard somewhere that a musical version of that was being worked on too, but don't quote me).

aaaah! Didn't know that about the Full Monty or City of Angels!

Lucky you to live in NYC.*sigh*

I keep saying if I win the lottery, I'll get a little pied à terre just to go down for The Theatar Season, Dahling.

One musical I am sorry to have never seen on stage was (don't laugh) The Lion King. srsly.
