Dale Earnhardt Jr. headlines NASCAR Hall of Fame Class of 2021
NASCAR's longtime fan favorite received the sport's biggest honor Tuesday, when he was selected to join his father in the series' Hall of Fame. Earnhardt will be inducted in Charlotte, North Carolina, along with the late Mike Stefanik and 87-year-old Red Farmer, who is planning to race on Talladega's dirt track this weekend. Ralph Seagraves was named the Landmark Award winner for his contributions to the sport.

NASCAR says noose found in Bubba Wallace's garage at Talladega

A noose was found in the garage stall of Bubba Wallace at Talladega Superspeedway in Lincoln, Alabama, on Sunday, less than two weeks after Wallace, who is NASCAR's only Black driver, successfully pushed the stock car racing series to ban the Confederate flag at its tracks and facilities. "Late this afternoon, NASCAR was made aware that a noose was found in the garage stall of the 43 team. We are angry and outraged, and cannot state strongly enough how seriously we take this heinous act," NASCAR said in a statement. "We have launched an immediate investigation, and will do everything we can to identify the person(s) responsible and eliminate them from the sport. Wallace never saw the noose, ESPN's Marty Smith reported. It was first seen by a member of Wallace's team, who immediately brought it to the attention of NASCAR, Smith reported. NASCAR told Fox Sports that it will work with law enforcement. Wallace, an Alabama native who drives the No. 43 Chevrolet for racing icon Richard Petty, said in a statement that he was "incredibly saddened" by the act.

Apparent noose found on property of NASCAR racetrack at Sonoma

Sonoma Raceway officials are conducting an investigation after "a piece of twine tied in what appeared to be a noose" was found "hanging from a tree on raceway property" on Saturday, the California track's president said in a statement."Our staff, on-site business tenants and local law enforcement have been contacted and asked to share any information they may have," president and general manager Steve Page said in the statement. "The incident is under investigation by the Sonoma County Sheriff's Department. "Sonoma Raceway takes this incident very seriously and is dedicated to operating a facility that is welcoming to everyone." Sonoma Raceway is a 47,000-seat venue with a road course that hosts NASCAR Cup Series events, as well as the IndyCar Series, the AMA Superbike circuit and drag racing. The Cup Series event and most other major races at the track were canceled this year amid the coronavirus pandemic. The track was closed over the weekend, when the apparent noose was found.

NASCAR releases image of noose found in Bubba Wallace's garage, says concern was 'real'

NASCAR on Thursday completed its investigation into the garage pull rope formed as a noose that was found in Bubba Wallace's garage at Talladega Superspeedway on Sunday, with president Steve Phelps saying "the noose was real" and "our initial reaction was to protect our driver." NASCAR released a photo of the noose that was found in the garage of the No. 43 team. "Given the facts presented to us, we would have pursued this with the same sense of urgency and purpose," Phelps said Thursday. "Upon learning of seeing the noose, our initial reaction was to protect our driver. We're living in a highly charged and emotional time. What we saw was a symbol of hate, and was only present in one area of the garage -- that of the 43 car of Bubba Wallace.

North Carolina racetrack owner offers 'Bubba Rope' for sale

The owner of a North Carolina racetrack advertised "Bubba Rope" for sale in a social media marketplace days after NASCAR announced a noose had been found in the garage of driver Bubba Wallace, who is Black, at Talladega Superspeedway in Alabama. Mike Fulp, the owner of the half-mile 311 Speedway in Stokes County, made the pitch Wednesday on Facebook Marketplace: "Buy your Bubba Rope today for only $9.99 each, they come with a lifetime warranty and work great." The incident placed racism front and center for NASCAR, which two weeks ago banned the Confederate flag from its venues and races at Wallace's urging. It also sparked criticism from some fans that NASCAR had somehow overreacted -- criticism the sanctioning body cited in releasing the photo taken by NASCAR security.

Briscoe pulled away from there in the No. 98 Ford and won his fourth race of the season and second in three races. Chastain hit the jackpot with his runner-up finish. He won the $100,000 Dash 4 Cash prize awarded to the highest finisher among four eligible drivers.

Jones won a two-lap sprint to the finish to win the wreck-filled Truck Series race, the first of three NASCAR races Sunday at Pocono Raceway.

Harvick snapped an 0-for-38 drought at Pocono, taking the checkered flag Saturday at one of two tracks where victory had eluded him.

Sheldon Creed wins rain-shortened Truck race at Kentucky Speedway
Creed started second in the No. 2 GMS Racing Chevrolet and was third in the first stage before dipping low from third past a group of trucks on the Lap 52 restart. The 22-year-old won for the first time in 37 series starts, taking the second stage just before the thunderstorm hit the track.

Austin Cindric completes Xfinity sweep at Kentucky Speedway
Cindric dominated Friday night to sweep the NASCAR Xfinity Series doubleheader at Kentucky. A night after racing to his first career oval victory in an overtime finish, the Team Penske driver was even stronger in the No. 22 Ford Mustang in the 300-mile race.
