I wish if they were going to do the character stuff it wasn't so cheesy. I think most of the actors could pull off better lines, but the lines have to be better to begin with. The writing is not great, IS WHAT I'M SAYING.
That SDRR was bad. The whole story was just a complete cliche with no twists. As soon as they said "you have a record deal!" everything else that was going to happen was obvious. They even spelled it out in the first scene! Why would Gigi be shocked by how the music industry works anyway? She's never been naive before. And that guy saying "on feelk" about forty times. And the Daft Punk bit was embarrasingly bad. Urgh.
And YES I of course liked Elizabeth Gillies in those outfits in a shallow way but that doesn't make the episode good.
The singing was good. The rest was shit. What even happened? It was like they ran out of stories and ideas. So they just repeated some stuff from previous episodes, like ANOTHER montage of Gigi flirting with an older man while her dad looks concerned (it was like the fourth time) and "the fat guy is fat!" jokes. Who was that guy supposed to be whispering things to everyone? I don't even know.
He was Rob Morrow from Northern Exposure, which John Corbett was also on. NORTHERN EXPOSURE REUNION!! Too bad SDRR is not as funny and smart (and fucking weird) as Northern Exposure was.
I think he was trying to make them all emotional in some way so the song would be better, but it was all just STUPID.
