Across his career, Newton has thrown for 32,382 yards, with 194 touchdowns and 123 interceptions. He led the Panthers to the Super Bowl at the end of the 2015 season. Overall, Newton has a 75-68-1 record as a starting NFL quarterback and has run for more touchdowns than any quarterback in league history.

Magic Johnson joins group bidding to buy Commanders
Johnson, the Basketball Hall of Famer and part owner of the Los Angeles Dodgers, was part of the Harris group when it failed to land the Denver Broncos last summer. Harris also owns the NBA's Philadelphia 76ers and the NHL's New Jersey Devils.

QB Lamar Jackson says he has requested trade from Ravens​


Lamar Jackson unleashed his latest surprise in his ongoing contract saga with the Baltimore Ravens on Monday, announcing that he had requested a trade from the team just as coach John Harbaugh sat down to speak to reporters at the NFL's annual league meeting. The Ravens placed the nonexclusive franchise tag on Jackson on March 7 -- five days after Jackson said he made his trade request -- which allowed him to negotiate with other teams. If Jackson signs an offer sheet, Baltimore would have five days to either match it or receive two first-round picks as compensation. If there is no offer sheet, Jackson would earn $32.416 million this season if he plays under the tag.

Alabama, Ohio State pro days back Panthers No. 1 preference
The Carolina Panthers traded for the No. 1 pick of the NFL draft to have a shot at Alabama's Bryce Young or Ohio State's C.J. Stroud, and consecutive pro days for the quarterbacks only reinforced that decision.

NFL owners vote in favor of letting players wear No. 0​


The jersey No. 0 is coming to rosters across the NFL. The league voted Tuesday to allow all players other than offensive and defensive linemen to wear the jersey No. 0. The proposal was submitted by the Philadelphia Eagles, and also allows kickers and punters to use any jersey numeral between 0-49 and 90-99.
