XVII Paralympic Games



The Paris 2024 Paralympic Games, which will take place between 28 August and 8 September, will see more than 4,000 athletes from around the world competing in 549 medal events. The first Paralympic summer Games in the French capital will showcase 22 sports, including both individual and team sports.

Nigeria’s Paralympic team received a warm welcome at the Presidential Villa following their impressive performance at the 2024 Paralympic Games in Paris.
The First Lady of Nigeria, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, hosted the contingent and awarded them a total of $80,000 in recognition of their achievements. The athletes secured seven medals—two gold, three silver, and two bronze. In appreciation of their efforts, the First Lady announced that gold medalists would receive $20,000 each, silver medalists $10,000 each, and bronze medalists $5,000 each.

Mason secures two silver medals at the Summer Paralympics
Former Eastern Michigan University track and field star Brittni Mason left her second Paralympic Games with two silver medals. Mason achieved notable results when competing in the T47 100m dash and T47 200m dash on Sept. 3 and Sept. 7, respectively, at the 2024 Summer Paralympics. In the T47 100m dash on Sept. 3, Mason finished in second place at 12.10 seconds, earning her first silver medal of the 2024 Paralympic Games.
