Permaban poll on ExIsle

Actually, TS, even if your suspension/warning meter is returned to zero, all you have to do is post once and you can be perma banned. It wouldn't be hard - post some porn or a sexually graphic article, spam the PM system with adverts for porn sites. That isn't even new to the pre-permaban policy.

I imagine there will be some posters who engage you in hopes you'll cross the line and give them cause to scream for your head. Those same people will more than likely find their heads on the chopping block in the near future, once they've ridden themselves of their troll problem and go back to their in-fighting days. Some think they've made themselves safe with the "substantive contribution" wording but one person's meat is another person's spam. And, it isn't exactly hard to tell which buttons are easy to push. The trick is to not let those be your buttons.
 
RobL - You'd be surprized at the 4 I'd name, if it's 4 names that you want.

and I damn well don't intend to ever let it become a means of 'disappearing' any one.
 
No longstanding EIer will be banned under the new policy.

It was thought up, tailored, and allowed to be enacted for the sole purpose of dealing with myself, TS, DS, and Cow. Once we are gone, I don't expect any other Permabans to be given out, except maybe our duals, or those thought to be our duals.

Hogwash. You know it, I know it. Just because you banned talking about it there doesn't mean that's what the game plan is.

Actually the language of the new rule is aimed at new members [and I would guess existing new-ish trolls]. Long standing members, even if they create a ruckus, have the 'substantive contribution' part covered.

I agree the wording was poor and/or calculated. To be fair though, the Staff didn't craft the wording, a few members did. I'd have brought this up during the discussion, but no one seemed to be listening.

But in practice you are right RobL, the rule favors long standing members.
 
No RobL There are people other than just me who damn well won't let any one be disappeared. Permabanned- maybe- but if any one does it will be well and truly announced ( and sadly I do expect there to be people posting to gloat about it. )

RobL, I'm never had a problem with hard and or uncomfortable questions being asked, not at all. Growing pains can be very uncomfortable.

I know - that is why it is so important to get the scrambled eggs and wheat toast on the side, maybe a nice bowl of oatmeal too, and some orange juice.

Ah, the Rae person is a wise one indeed... plus she just has too good a sense of humor not to see DS for the cute curmudgeon that he really is.
