Sense8 (Netflix)

Just starting ep 10 and I find I don't give a rat's ass about Lito. The stupid girl that barged into their life, them having sex on their deck in plain sight of anyone with a pair of binoculars when he's afraid of coming out, her taking a photo of them having sex on their deck in front of her, blah blah blah. Don't care, they're all tedious.

I don't care about the trans girl much, she's a terrible actress and she not really selling the part. Even Freema doesn't help.

I'm starting to like the Indian woman but I can't figure out why the rich guy is so incredibly, frantically, desperately in love with her. German guy is interesting, black guy isn't given enough screen time, blonde girl is starting to bore me and we need more Sun. I like the cop, he's cute.

I'm all for character development but holy shit, give us some fucking plot. The whole conspiracy, "we're different" theme is so grudgingly provided that it's easy to forget what any of this is about except a beautifully photographed soap opera.

I finished the season. I liked it ON THE WHOLE. There were some beautiful moments. All the scenes where more than one of the main character interacted sparkled. They did stuff that no other show would do (all eight characters witness their own births!) The direction, cinematography, photography (I'm just trying to cover everything, maybe that's the same as cinematography), the music were all great.

I STILL MAINTAIN that some of the dialogue was really eye-rolling bad or at least super cheesey. There was one part where Freema's character said something like "Why do people like fireworks? They're a symbol of WAR" or something. It was bad. And a lot of times characters just state what they're feeling even though we already know what they're feeling from the acting and direction and don't actually need it said. Like when (SPOILERS but you should have stopped reading by now) Leto was going to kill himself but the gun was just a lighter he had to say "it was fake! JUST LIKE MY LIFE!" and it felt like it would have worked better if he hadn't said that.

I think Riley's story would have worked better if she'd had less screentime. She seemed to get more time than any of the others and there's only so many times you can look at her (nice) face looking spacey or sad.

But as a show about people connecting to each other it worked so I did enjoy it and will watch season two whenever!

Maybe the writer is actually a Mine Fielder, and he writes dialogue for the actors LIKE WE SOMETIMES POST, ALL CAPS AND IRONICALLY ON THE NOSE LOL.

It's written by the Wachowskis and the Babylon 5 guy. Remember when DS9 stole all B5's ideas but we all just automatically took DS9's side in the lawsuit because it had O'Brien in it.

I could never get into it. I think I tried but it just seemed to grey and dull and yeah the aliens were just guys with silly haircuts (instead of guys with silly foreheads.) I just never looked into if he actually had a good case with the lawsuit.

Just finished episode 7 which was phenomenal. I think this is some of the best TV. Took me a while, but everything is starting to make sense to me. The scene with the Indian woman and the German guy was about as exquisite a scene as I've watched and I finally "got it". I still don't know anyone by name, and I think the credit music at the start is the best 60 seconds running currently.

Just wonderful.

Of course it had to, but brilliant to have it confirmed. I hope it doesn't lose itself like Heroes and Orphan Black did in their second seasons. The problem I find with these types of shows is that at the beginning the characters have ordinary lives we can easily relate with, but as we get further into the government conspiracy type thing it all gets so crazy and big and outside of our experiences that it's no longer the show or the set of characters we fell in love with. (Yes, I fell in love with the characters in Heroes season 1. I was at university, there was a lot of alcohol, these things happen)

Oh yeah I just realised the whole "they were all born on the same day" thing is a bit weird since some clearly look older than others...

Can't wait!

It's the last show I would've expected this from, but I saw an interview with Lana where she said she always loved Christmas specials as a kid and Netflix couldn't say no.

It was pretty much what I expected from a two hour Sense8. Beautifully shot with lots of good character stuff and amazing montages and not many plot developments until the end.

The new Capheus seems really different? The other guy was smaller and smiled a lot. I guess we'll get used to him!

I was disappointed that Santa wasn't involved in the orgy. But on the plus side, at least we got an orgy!

I totally forgot that Naveen Andrews and Daryl Hannah were in it. Probably because they hardly ever do anything?

It's a shame Riley doesn't get a story on her own and was just there to support Will?
