Hmm. I just read Henoch's thread.

Why vilify a board for what it blatantly advertises itself to be? With all due respect (and I do mean that), I read in that thread that people were disillusioned about TK because of the mean trolling, and inabilility to trust anyone.

Umm...

This board's founding was based on THE TROLL. Free speech, yeah, but also THE TROLL. Which is why it took me years to post at this place, and then only because of the persistence of others. Trolls are not, by definition, upfront, trustworthy personas.

It is true that you don't know who to trust. Truth be told, I only trust one person completely here, and that's after months and months of private communication. And even that didn't stick until we took it off of TK.

And trolling can be mean, at times, which is one of the reasons I stopped doing it (well, except for that YouTube thing). I can understand not wanting to be surrounded by that meanness. But again, you signed up to be surrounded by it when you registered here.

But that comes with the territory. If you want a board like Shattered Corpse, then participate in a board like Shattered Corpse. But denigrating a board for simply being what it's advertised to be is just silly.

True 'Nuff.

But it is her board, and she has the right to ban anyone at the drop of a hat. Is it something I would do? No.

The reason I wouldn't want to join there is because it's Caitriona's board, and the next time she gives one of her non-modded, non-adminned buddies the adminCP reigns for shits and giggles, there will be no one to check her decision.

I am not comfortable putting myself, and my private info, in that situation.

But how many of us here would open up a board and use similar moderating practices?

A lot of us knew Cait was never really into the TK troll aspect of the board and judging by the way she runs her own board we really did troll her to the point of believing that she has to take the opposite side of TKs philosophy.

The reason I wouldn't want to join there is because it's Caitriona's board, and the next time she gives one of her non-modded, non-adminned buddies the adminCP reigns for shits and giggles, there will be no one to check her decision.

Did she really get into trouble for doing that here though? Sure a few members complained but when you get right down to it there's no accountability for the actions taken by the staff, assuming they'd even admit to anything in the first place.

Your personal info is already on the line here as well as anything else you have here such as PMs. It's a valid concern but I wouldn't put much faith in this board to keep that info private. A lot does go on over IM you know.

No, she never got into trouble. But people gave her shit. She felt backed into a corner enough to at least recant her choice, if not the motivation behind it. On her own board, no one will give her that shit. The membership will be subject to her whim, as we are here.

Your personal info is already on the line here as well as anything else you have here such as PMs. It's a valid concern but I wouldn't put much faith in this board to keep that info private. A lot does go on over IM you know.

Not a lot of me out there that hasn't already been divulged. But I see your point. However, I've been in situations where missmannners always kept the contents of the adminCP to herself, even when it would have been beneficial to a project to act otherwise. IM? Too much high school drama for me to participate, but I've read where Mentalist was given members' IP's from an admin here. Who was that again?

Not only that, but I've been IP banned from viewing the board. Proxies still work fine, though. Tee hee.

I think me re-registering after they deleted the account I had qued was the last straw.

I wonder if they'll recognize M3ssenger? *crosses fingers*
 
Most of those people over there I know from a number of different places. I like all of them and wish them success. Still, I wish some of them could find the time to post over here too.
