2018 looking up

In a new interview with The Star, Cameron fielded a pointed question about his schedule for the rollout of Avatars 2-5. Reporter Tony Wong asked Cameron how development was coming along in advance of Cameron’s projected 2018 release date for his first sequel. Cameron presumably took a long, deep sigh, and answered:

"Well, 2018 is not happening. We haven’t announced a firm release date."

GOOD NEWS! Maybe he'll just give up and crawl into a bottle of booze instead.
 
There was a rumor going around that Cameron might be one of the guys that's going on SpaceX's luxury trip around the moon.

It would be a shame if he got lost out there.
 
Then Michael Bay could make a movie of his story.
 
When he dies he won't have made anything but Avatar movies since 1997.
 
To be fair, most directors/moguls from this era will have obituaries that start "X, who wasn't J.J. Abrams,..."
 
But J.J. probably lifted their style.
 
Great to be working with the best team in the business! Avatar takes flight as we begin concurrent production on four sequels. The journey continues December 18, 2020, December 17, 2021, December 20, 2024 and December 19, 2025!
 
Good god. I'll be grey by the time this shit's done with.
 
I already am, but I am happy to blame the wait for avatar sequels for it.
 
Bland White Guy Lead Character will be like sixty by the time they're finished (though maybe he turned into a CGI cat person forever at the end of the first movie I can't remember.)

The first one didn't interest me enough to care if there are sequels or not.

I just kept thinking, "All that money went into this??" I shudder to think how much more money will be poured into the others. Of course, that's assuming the global economy doesn't completely collapse from incompetent fascist right-wing leaders. The first sequel opens a month after the 2020 US presidential elections. If we still have regular elections at that point...
 
I think James Cameron has enough money to do whatever he wants (which is why he goes to the bottom of the ocean and the moon and stuff) so he'll just make Avatar movies in isolation while the world burns around him and he doesn't notice.
 
In the future all films will be Avatar.

We have to live until 2028 to see how the Avatar saga ends.

Depends if they enjoy losing money and their audience.
 
I still wonder why the second is so far away. They've been filming it for years! Unless they're filming all four at once and only have parts of 2 finished.
