I’ve been seeing loads of ads for this lately, but didn’t clock that it’s a tv show. Thought it was a movie in the cinema so kind of ignored it, but I’ll check it out now.

I do wish they'd done a kind of "case of the week" structure with an over-riding arch

I still kind of feel this way. The show was pretty good and the story was fine, but I don't know if it was enough story for 8 episodes? And all the big fight scenes happening in that same street made it feel a bit cheap. You could argue it's trying to be true to a noir movie by having limited sets, or something, but this is 2026!

Probably. The show has already won 5 Creative Arts Emmys this past weekend. The main Emmys event is this coming weekend...

Then there was Spider-Noir, which had a bittersweet reason to celebrate. Just two days before the ceremony, Prime Video announced the series’ cancellation. The series spun a web to five Emmy wins, all in craft categories: Outstanding Cinematography for a Series (One Hour), Outstanding Special Visual Effects in a Single Episode, Outstanding Title Design, Outstanding Stunt Coordination for Comedy Programming and Outstanding Sound Editing for a Comedy or Drama Series (One Hour). Star Nicolas Cage, before the ceremony, has since responded to the cancellation, telling Deadline, “For me, one season is perfect, having said what I wanted to say with this dangerous, innovative, pop-art Spider-Man. Onwards, upwards, inwards.”

He was already a bit older than the character should have been (considering he fought in the First World War) so maybe it'll be easier on his knees for it to end.
