I don't know if it was a dream or some thought I had while half asleep, but I was thinking other than the doctor there are no good black roles in discovery, there is girl on the bridge noone can remember the name of, and book who wasn't there from the start.
I literally forgot Burnham existed in what iseant to be her show.
4.6 - Discovery is trapped in a weird space thing and tries to get out, while the computer becomes sentient. So at least it's got some Star Trek-type stories going on. The living computer is sadly pretty boring and talks in a sad voice that sounds like she's about to start crying at any time, so she fits in. The computer's going to fly the ship out while everyone else hides in the transporter buffer, but for some reason Michael stays on the Bridge and nearly dies, just so they can have a scene where she wakes up and everyone smiles at her in slow motion.
4.7 - The Risan guy (who is from another universe or something?) talks Book into making a speech to the Federation to convince them to blow up the aliens who are eating planets. Michael makes a speech saying we should just ask them not to eat planets and Michael wins when it comes to a vote. There's a TERRIBLE looking Ferengi there. The computer is confirmed alive and its "dreams" are just clips of previous eipsodes which is lame and unimigantive. Stamments is hesistant to trust a ship that's alive, which is potentially some good conflict, but he quickly changes his mind because it's Discovery. The trans Trill robot ghost gets sent off the ship because they don't have any stories for him. Everyone smiles.
4.8 - Book goes to casino planet to buy a weapon. Michael goes to stop him. I'm going to say something positive here: I liked Michael a lot more in this episode than I do a lot of the time. I think she worked better in the more informal setting? I like how her and Book are opposed but they don't instantly hate each other and are more sad than angry. I can't remember anything else about the episode.
4.9 - Some character from a previous season returns to watch over Michael and make sure she'll blow up Book if she has to. I can't really remember anything about her. Book's evil Risan freind keeps doing EVIL stuff and getting Book into trouble. Maybe he should stop hanging out with him? There's a subplot where the President of the Federation wants to fuck Saru.
4.10 - We get the backstory of Book's Risan friend. He was held prisoner with a little alien guy and it's quite wholesome. I was expecting a twist where he killed the little guy but it didn't come so points for that. But also we have Discovery trying to break through the "galactic barrier" (a stupid thing from TOS they decided to bring back) and it's dull. Everyone smiles at each other after they get through and why is it that when Strange New Worlds does this earnest stuff I like it but when Disco does it I find it cringey? It's just not as natural feeling to me, I guess? I don't know.
4.11 - There's only 3 episodes left and it's kind of shocking how little story there's been thus far. Things start happening a bit here with Michael and friends learning a bit about the aliens who are about to destroy Earth and Book and Risan kidnapping the sarcastic engineer lady. There's also this Asian Starfleet higher-up guy who keeps making inappropriate snarky jokes and I don't really get him. The President still wants to fuck Saru. Maybe I'll finish this season next month!
