Stargate Universe

How can that be considered a filler episode? The show is going to be about the shit that happens to them while they're trying to get back home, THE TICKS HAPPENED. It was cool having them encounter an alien bug instead of some alien that magically speaks English!

One thing I did think was odd was that they brought back Chloe's dad for this episode. But a few weeks ago Young got some of the civilians to fix the second shuttle, which was the one Chloe's dad died in and whose body still should have been in, since the door had been stuck and window broken since that first episode. But they didn't even mention him in that episode. It's a shame they couldn't have run this week's episode first and incorporated a funeral service. Maybe after she'd had her tic removed Chloe could've pleaded with the scientists to finally figure out how to open the shuttle's doors and get her dad's body out, now that she's accepted that he's dead. And then the episode where they actually used the shuttle would've come later.

I know that's a really small point, but it bugged me a bit.

So the one with the crippled woman was on today. It was actually really good, probably the best episode they've done. They packed a lot of plot and good moments into it, which makes it kind of annoying that they spent the previous two episodes on people walking around passageways. Rush was quite likable at last. I think they did too many episodes of the characters being assholes to each other early on.

Yes, I agree. I really liked that episode. Also agree about Rush finally being likable, I was afraid Rush and Young would be fighting each other throughout the series. It makes sense that they'd bang heads now and then, but they really have to rely on each other for survival.

Everyone keeps going on about Ming Na's acting in this one, but really all she did was sit in a wheelchair and act all scared when her girlfriend didn't come home on time. ALSO, why would it take hours to get your keeps out of a locked car AND ALSO, why didn't the gf call home to tell them what was up?

YOU'RE NOT WRONG!

Also, I posted keeps instead of keys. What kind of mental toot caused that? I DON'T KNOW.

Wow, that was a really good episode! Great pacing, never knew what would happen next and it finally gave Telford's character a point. Oh and great to have Daniel and O'neil back even if it was a bit odd to have Daniel doing surveillance when he's a space anthropologist.

Yeah! I liked it too. I also thought it was kinda dumb to have Daniel out there doing investigative stuff. They've really used his character WEIRDLY, they should have his cameos as a scientist coming to the ship to help out.

I hope after all this Telford is off the show for good. I don't like his FACE.

Yeah, I reckon either he'll get captured by the good guys after returning to his body (and have cameos once or twice in the future when they need him to tell them something about the Lucian Alliance) or Rush will get threatened with death and Telford will be sent back to his body a split second before it gets shot it in the head.

But next week's episode is the start of the two part finale, which, judging from the title will involve the LA or the other aliens boarding Destiny, so maybe Rush completes his task.

I loved the music in this ep, btw. And TJ's baby shower.

The baby shower was cool, I liked that everyone had to make the baby something. I also liked that they kept with the more serious theme of SGU and didn't make the Goa'uld chick all camp. Was that Rona Mitra playing her? I don't think Richard Dean Anderson knows how to do anything but camp.. kinda glad they kept his involvement to a minimum BUT it's about time Young went to him for help with Telford.

Chloe wasn't even annoying this time!

O'neil's humour felt really out of place. It was like watching a comedian do stand up and get no laughs. But I was still glad he was in it. I wish he'd lose a bit of weight, though. That doesn't look healthy.

I've finally caught up...and I loved ep19. Daniel and O'Neill! Telford really is a giant jerk! Earth has relevance again! And Jack's humour was awesome...true to form and a little reminder..Hey! This isn't BSG or some other show..It's Stargate. Nice considering it's not felt Stargatey recently until the tick episode for me.

My only beef...Young not thinking: well it's been a little while, Rush has probably got to whereever...Telford's expendable...sever the connection.

Then Young would know everything he needs to know, Rush is safe and Telford is dead, being useless to the LA. Instead stupid Ming Na is in hysterics about Rush's imminent death, which promises further civilian shipwide unrest. Stupid really. Otherwise..yay!

OKAY WATCHED FIRST EPISODE RANDOM THOUGHTS

I can't accept Fat Jack, his head looked like a blob sliding out of the bottom of his hat. Maybe if half his face was not obscured he would have looked more normalish. Still, this is what happens after you star in two successful TV shows. I think some MacGyver would make me feel better.

So the government is secretly planting math in videogames as a recruitment method now. OKAY THEN. LOOK STARGATE its not necessary to do a fat slovenly videogame scene to convince me that a character is a nerd. Shoulda just beamed him up while he was watching porn, cause that's what real nerds are usually doing.

Anyway I cannot help but look at this guy and think Fatter Rodney McKay. Somehow he came off as not nearly annoying as he looks. But he looks so annoying that every time I see him I expect him to say something that will make me throw potatos at my screen but then he says something somewhat reasonable so I hold off but then he does some annoying thing with the fat on his face afterwards and at this point my potato hand is very twitchy. It was probably going to be okay but then there was that scene where he successfuly flirted with a cute girl and it was POTATO ATTACK. BAAAHHH. I really miss Samantha Carter, she always fixed stuff in a cute and non annoying way.

I'm sick of flashbacks. They were okay for awhile but now that Lost is over they should be banned from TV. It's time writers learn how to provide back-story through normal conversation. And at this point in the show when we barely know the characters names why would we care that their wife is angry at them and such. Fortunately these were brief and only in the beginning.

The attack seemed kinda random I guess. Last time I checked the G'ould were out of business but I guess the LUCIAN ALLIANCE is still using their ships or something. Might have been nice to know why they were attacking the planet and why Carter didn't just blow all their ships out of the sky with Asgard technology. Also planets seem to be exceptionally unstable in the Stargate universe. It was cool in Star Wars, really, but I think they're going to have to start blowing up galaxies before I am impressed again.

Anyways after the beginning theatrics it settled down into a more reasonable and interesting show. I like how shady this Rush guy is even if he's a bit Baltar looking. I do hope he is lying about being assigned "leader" status by Jack cause I don't buy that Jack would do such a thing. But watching this guy try to be leader when everyone seems to hate him seems like it will be interesting. Of course by the end he was already getting respectful nods so I might be let down.

The grungy look of the ship is nice and yes very BSGish but it is still a welcome change from the spick and spaness of spaceships in almost every other scifi TV show. At least the ship does not use 1950's telephones for communications.

Also promising is the fact that Rodney 2 was not able to get all the ships holodecks working in 5 minutes.

All in all a reasonable enough first outing. I do appreciate being back in a familiar scifi universe. The continuity drops were well placed and not overwhelming to newcomers I don't think.

Guess I'll stick around for their trip through the Delta Quadrant for awhile.

The planet blew up because it was full of naquadah. The Alliance blasted on it for a good awhile before hitting some, but hit some they did and KABOOM.

NAQUADAH. These things be coming back to me.

Any reason WHY they attacked and why each enemy ship was not split in two by Asgard lazar beams?

I don't give a lick about spoilers.

No idea about why Asgard tech isn't used widespread across the USAF fleet or even in use on the George Hammond or why they don't cut the Lucian Alliance into ribbons with it.

We seem to getting answers as to why an attack occurred with these latter episodes, seem the LA wants the ninth chevron gate and Ancient Destiny tech for themselves, shaping them up to be Goauld Lite.

Haven't seen the final episode yet because the only version online is in fucking RUSSIAN arghfrhkjfhuepouiebm,jd
