Strange New Worlds season 3

Which part did you agree with? Because I said I enjoyed it, then you said you agreed and proceeded to call it stupid... did you read the whole thing? lol

Yes, I read the whole thing. I was referring to the part about the serum.

Happy birthday:

Babs Olusanmokun (41)!
Christina Chong (42)!

AMAZING THAT THEY WERE BORN ON THE EXACT SAME DAY* WHAT A MASSIVE FUCKING COINCIDENCE, SURELY PROOF OF GOD'S EXISTENCE.

*a year apart

I never would have guessed she is 42.

She is lovely. I hope she dances more. They could do a ST spinoff where she teaches a dance class for genetically modified humans, like Dr Bashir and his weird friends. Hopefully none of her dance class will require a fainting couch to lounge sexily on at all times.

Okay, 3.9:
Okay, we saw the Ortega-centric SNW take on Balance of Terror, and now it's time for the Ortega-centric SNW take on The Arena, complete with an appearance by The Metrons. Given the end scene of Episode 3.1 where we saw the Gorn in Ortegas' reflection, I was expecting a lot more apprehension on her part with the Gorn, but she seemed to fall into the 'Oh, okay, we're both trying to survive. I guess I won't try to kill you" attitude rather fast. It was all heart-warming and it made for a gut-wrenching ending, but it just felt as though she became willing far too easy for someone with such a deep-seeded hatred. And I can only hope that Uhura also met some sort of consequence, even a formal reprimand in her file, for fudging the results and possibly putting the entire ship at risk. If Ortegas has to meet consequences, so should Uhura for consistency. Overall a good episode, but... it just didn't grab me. Apparently 3.10 will make up for all that with all the feels?

Uhura's fudging the data is consistent with a theme through all of ST... the human factor will almost always help throw the odds in their favor. Kirk lived by it.

Pike knew she did it, and went with it anyway.

Stuff like this takes ST out of the realm of cold science fiction and places it into Roddenberry's theme of "The Human Adventure."

I really didn't think about this until you brought it up.
