I have had bruxism since I've had my four wisdoms out, and regular sinus infections that cause the right side of my head to go deaf and feel like a swollen achy melon, (like today for example) so I know what she went through.

Basically, nothing helps.

Yeah, and then imagine having that kind of pain everytime you swallow, amplified, most of the time, and then spending a lot of time alone bedridden and doped up on pain killers.

Sorry to hear about your ear. Have you tried getting your ears candled? I used to have a lot of problems with mine and I'm allergic to the medications - causes me temporary deafness and blindness. Since I've been getting my ears candled a couple of times a year I haven't had any problems with them.

No, those big fucking things scare me :) Ive been using peroxide and moist heat this morning and asking people to only talk to me on the left side, since I'm completely deaf other wise.

What do you do, melt the wax in your ear or something. Stick that fucking thing in there and dig it out?

LOL

ha, ha, ha ..... no.

You have to have someone who knows what they are doing do it for you. Ear candles are a long, tapered, funnel of cloth coated in wax. You lay down on your side with the ear to be treated up. You cover your hair and your face with a thick towel and a plate with a hole in the center is placed over your ear. The smaller end of the candle is placed through the hole and down into your ear. Then, the candle is lit on fire at the larger top end. The vacuum effect draws a lot of crud out of your ears - built up ear wax, pus, worms - it is disgusting what is hiding in your ears. The person candling your ears also massages your jaw, sinus cavities, back of your head, etc. When the candling is finished, put a little teatree oil in the ear and a cotton ball. The ear is a little sensitive for a bit and sound is muffled but it goes away fairly quickly.

The first time for me was right after I'd had a bad ear infection - could hear all that crud moving around in my ears, feel it moving around in my head and the stench was awful. Plus, I nearly gagged when I looked inside the bottom of the remainder of the candle when it was done.

OMG I want to try it.

Hey, I recommend it to everybody. The first few times it is going to be gross so don't look into the bottom of the candle unless you like the gag factor. Don't freak out over the old black blood clots either - if you've had ear infections there will be some. I had to look in mine cause I thought ear candling was a crock.

I am so sorry to hear about your friend eloisel. Suicide leaves so much emotional destruction for those left behind. I had an older sister who let the voices in her head convince her to end her life. So I do understand your sensitivity to the Pixalator's lack of judgment.

As for the candle thing, I've never heard of it. Is this something that is practiced by medical personnel? My husband has ear problems but the doctor he went to just did the usual flushing of the ear with a warm solution of something. He did report that it was extremely gross what comes out of the ear.

I've seen ear candle displays in health food stores and they're big mother fuckers. I couldn't imagine how they were used.

I'm allergic to most medications. After the last time I was deaf and blind for a month and a half from an allergic reaction to ear drops, I started looking into alternative medicine. My daughter knew about ear candling and talked me into trying it. Not many people I let set fire to something that close to my head. The first time was really gross and my ears were really tender and the sound muffled for about 12 hours, but after that I noticed a big improvement in my sinuses and hearing. Now I get it done about twice a year. I had a bad ear infection this year for the first time in about 6 years - I used to get them about every 3 or 4 months. I spend alot of time in the pool and out on cold nights passing out blankets and coats. I think I got the one I had this year because my immune system was worn down from some cracked bones, then a flu, followed by an upper respiratory infection and a sinus infection all within about a month's time.

I've not had any ear worms in mine but we're talking about pus in the ears from infection. I'm thinking the ear worms others have seen in there's is probably maggots or mites, maybe some other parasite. Ewww... Mine was nasty enough - pus and black clots of blood, greenish mucus .... puke! Unfortunately, we can't reach that stuff deep inside the ear with a Q-tip or normal washing.

When I was a kid I saw my dad getting his sinuses washed out. Looked like something out of Boris Karloff or Vincent Price horror movie. Scarred me for life!

My daughter and other friends of this girl's got together last night to memoralize her. They are all pretty crushed and the stories they are now sharing with each other over their separate experiences with Joanna over the past year has shown them it has been coming for a long time. I think they will look after each other more carefully now.

My daughter does my ears and I do hers. She learned how to do it from a person who does massage therapy at the gym she used to work at. It is really easy to learn how to do and the candles are available at health food stores and herbal shops. Some US holistic doctors are using ear candling now. I think general practicioners still reject this method, even though it is a centuries old technique. I can see why - fire close to the head! But, it works for me so I'm going to keep using it.

I'm so sorry to hear about your daughter's friend eloisel. Another young life lost. Also for the loss of your sister, Enkephalen. Your so right "suicide leaves so much emotional destruction for those left behind."

New Years Eve I will be celebrateing the life of my young BIL, 34, who took his own life 2 years ago that night. Gawd I miss him so much, what a great guy, so much potential, gone with one bullet. On Christmas day I told him my door is always open to him to come and stay but he said he would be alright, he had a plan. I wish a zillion times over I had known what that plan was. :(

Now for the ear candling.....I bought my candles online....I did my hubbs ears a while back when he was having a pressure problem that gave him headaches. 2 waxings and bingo problem solved.
