Now it seems to be a stale echo chamber from six or seven years ago. The decline and fail over the past two weeks has been pretty dramatic.

My, it was ironic considering that the WF mods perma banned me under the bizarre fiction that I was driving away potential new members. :D

I'll be frank: Though I don't know all that many boards, I'm not sure I've ever seen a place as chaotic as this. When you look at the all the forums set out there with their soothing definitions on the home page, it looks inviting. Then you go in and select Thread X or Y and see people telling each other to fuck off and calling each other stupid and doing everything conceivable except discussing the thread topic. And some of these thread topics do seem a trifle uhh.. eccentric, whimsical.

It makes me wonder whether any real debating gets done here.

I've also joined another board that appears to be heaving with Fascist Tough Guys. So I have my work cut out there --- perfect for someone as moronically argumentative as me. If I don't get banned or driven away by the hostile vibes.

I demand that Nono be banned from WF on the grounds that Nono is a John Castle dual without having the decency to actually be a John Castle dual. :rwmad:

Has anyone seen Gul and company's new rules changes? Yep, entirely designed so he can justify banning anyone he dislikes. Worse, they still aren't equally enforcing the rules tgat already exist as Chup went and flamed me right in the help desk right after the mods said to keep it civil and nothing happened to him.

Paladin's decusion to simply leave is looking like the right one.

Fuck you. There's like fifty verbal warnings to knock shit off for every official one given, no matter who it is. I'm can assure you gul and shootER aren't overly fond of him, either.
 
Yeah, as it stands now, there's really no reason to go back. I came back because GTurner's posts, combined with Trump's win made for some interesting discussion--as was witnessed by the return/increased posting of other conservatives like Tuttle and Ramen.

But we couldn't have that--debating and opposing views have no place on a discussion board!

So GTurner was stealth-banned. And then, rather than admit they fucked up, they doubled down and made new rules to crush any protests. Which is no surprise, because that's what socialist totalitarians do--they'll never admit they might have gotten something wrong or that they aren't as smart as they think they are. They just bemoan that the proles were too stupid to see what they were doing for them or decide they had the right idea but "just didn't go far enough."

So now WF exists to provide a "safe space" for transgender furries to discuss articles in Teen Vogue and episodes of My Little Pony and for wonks to post the latest white paper that MSNBC and the NYT wrote about and shake their heads and cluck disprovingly about how stupid and backwards and racist and homophobic the rest of America is. :(

Hard to attribute the first type to somebody actively trying to prevent the second type. But, yanno, that's just rational, so don't worry; I don't expect you to have much of a taste for rational.
 
OK. I lied. There are two reasons to come back: I miss my Blue Room thread and for the sheer "Survivor"/train wreck entertainment factor of seeing who gets cannibalized next. My money's on Diacanu. I mean, he did defend video game people in the "Gamergate" thread. It's a pretty safe bet that he's a knuckle dragging redneck who hates women. :marathon:
 
Nah. My bet is on either Dinner or Federal Farmer. Now, TPTB over there say those two are safe; we know how much their words are worth, though, don't we?
 
The big problem with rule 8 is that it's being enforced by people whose knee-jerk liberal response to almost anything is "That's racist!"

And of course it's aimed at anyone who disparages Islam, which isn't a race.
